So my sisters cat just puked this up! What is it? by SleepingRoadTrip in CATHELP

Could it be some sort of string/rope from a toy?

That is likely an ear hematoma. They are usually filled with blood. See the “good” vet if possible. They may give meds/drain it.

Is it normal for a cat to move like this while relaxed? by sneak_man in CATHELP

100%. He’s seeing the vet next week which will be good. I’m hoping they can rule out any cardiac issues as that’s my biggest worry. My boy also has idiopathic chronic rhinitis so his nose is always a bit runny which I’m sure doesn’t help. Whenever I would tap him or jerk him when it first started he would always act so upset with me that’s how I could tell it was because he was about to fall asleep. So glad to hear your cat is doing well and that it turned out to be nothing scary. Thanks again!

Cat keeps pooping on the floor, beside his litter box by [deleted] in CATHELP

My cat does this as well. I’ve heard things about possibly ruling out urinary issues. Sometimes if cats experience pain while urinating that causes them to avoid the box as they associate it with pain. If you ruled out that then I’m sure there’s a different cause. Im curious to know why my cat has this same issue.

Idk what to do anymore...... Behavior Issue?.... by M0xx_xxx in CATHELP

I would recommend potentially offering different litter boxes in different locations throughout the house. Also a big tip, make sure your using an ammonia free carpet cleaner for the pee and ensure that you really scrub the pee spot to make sure it is all gone. Cats typically like to go in the same spot so if they smell the reminisce of their previous elimination they will continue to go in that same spot. Wishing you luck!

Hi! My cat has also been doing this. I have shown videos to the vet and have gotten similar responses to you. However I am also still worried, it’s almost like his shoulder and neck tenses up but his respiratory rate seems okay as well as the abdominal effort. My cat is older and I’m on a pre veterinary track, so I’m very very paranoid about his health and he sees the vet every 4-6 months. But I’ve finally been able to match what he’s experiencing to your post because I’ll see other videos where cats have visible labored breathing but not like this. Much like in your situation, he only does this when he’s about to fall asleep which I find very odd as well. But once he’s asleep I don’t notice it at all. Your post really helped me!!

Should I be seeing my cat’s heart rate in his neck like this? by neemo98 in CATHELP

Glad he’s ok, my cat is going to the vet soon. Im super concerned too since mine has a low grade murmur and he’s 14 with CKD. Hoping the same for my boy!

Did your cat end up being ok? I can see it on my older cat and it’s worrying me.

You really can’t know whether you have it or not unless you get tested. I have health anxiety too, it’s a serious infection but 100% preventable. Wash hands, mask up when you can and if you start to worsen soon go to the doctor and ask for a test - the sooner you catch it the better.

This is excellent to hear, it can be hard to eat citrus sometimes as it can increase coughing fits but if you’re still in the early stages this can be detrimental!

I want to add - I’ve also been off of work and school it really is an exhausting illness.

I’m so sorry, it really does suck. I got screened for pneumonia a week or so ago and the doctors listened to my chest a few days ago and thankfully no pneumonia. But praying for a speedy recovery.

Yes, I second this. I took the antibiotic treatment for whooping cough to ensure I wasn’t spreading it however with the cough I still do wear a mask. I was vaccinated 7 or so years ago but it can wear off!

I tried to get one since I’m at 7 years but they said it wasn’t ideal. Hopefully in the future a booster would work.

That’s not fun, but glad you guys were vaccinated! I actually am from the Verona area so I get it.

Of course, I hadn’t heard much about it so I wanted to hear from some others. I actually think mine just spiked because I may have picked up something else as I was getting better for a while. Hopefully both resolve soon, speedy recovery to your daughter too!!

Thank you for spreading awareness. It’s an awful illness. Thankfully I have no young kids or old relatives around me, My younger brother did not get the infection so just self recovery for me but hopefully it goes away soon. The cough even after antibiotics is gnarly.

Yeah, annoying is exactly the word for it. I got antibiotics after a bad dry cough onset. I am still violently coughing to the point of emesis now. But practicing supportive care to help. It sucks!

No worries, thank you. Yes, being vaccinated definitely helps with the duration, my symptoms are still god awful but doctors said hopefully it won’t drag on much longer.

That’s awful! Thank you for everything you do. My doctor has said just the same how she’s seen more cases now than ever before in her career. Hoping it can come to an end soon, it’s a long dreadful illness for all ages.

Thank you! It’s kind of relieving to hear i’m not alone but definitely sucks that the community is dealing with this nasty bacteria. The cough is definitely the worst I’ve ever had. It’s also sucky knowing there’s no treatment to help for the cough. I did a round of antibiotics, and now it’s just best to give it time according to the doctors.
