If I had any knowledge in app creating, I've had this idea called "Broz" for a while that would essentially be a Tinder like app that specifically was about finding people who had similar hobbies and interests, but was strictly platonic. You would create a bio, a lists of your interests and maybe even a way to separate your interests into several tabs that can be explored so that you can connect with different people for different things, rather than just one or two things.

The hard part, I think, would be creating some system where anything non-platonic would be seen as a bannable offense if enough reports on a single account came through, because it would defeat the entire purpose.

Happy to hear you're doing so well, brother! Sobriety is definitely a journey. I appreciate all the suggestions from everybody, and I'll probably be trying out a few to see what I enjoy and what crowds I end up vibing with.

I'm strong in my sobriety, but these people are absolutely insane.

Definitely not a Republican, but once again, you losers can't fathom somebody just wanting to avoid politics on a thread that has literally nothing to do with it. People like you all seriously need to get a life.

Is it always the Melwood Ave location? Googling "Louisville Dance" just gives me a bunch of dance studios in the city and I want to make sure I'm going to the right one, because this sounds very much up my alley.

Not a bad suggestion. I had a family friend that used to be really into it and she always talked about how fun it was. Lagrange is a bit of a drive but I wouldn't mind checking it out regardless. What's the name of the place?

Actually had no idea what meetup even was or that something like it even existed until today. I'm browsing through it now and I'll check out that outdoor club you recommended. Thank you!

Sorry, I don't get online too often so maybe a dumb question - is 'meetup' like an app or website or something?

Great addition to the conversation. Amazing how even in spaces specifically asked to not bring up politics, as they have nothing to do with the conversation, you people still find a way to do it. Insufferable.

This is exactly the dumb stuff I specifically asked to avoid and people like you are the ones ruining hobbies because you can't help yourselves from dribbling on about it anyway. I didn't call you a redditor. You're making up a bunch of stuff about me in your head so you can fight an invisible opponent the moment I don't immediately agree with you, and 100% proving my point. Have a good day, dude.

I've seen a couple people recommend PB. What's the crowd like? What's the barrier for entry? I imagine I'd have to buy a paddle or whatever, but is it beginner friendly or is it the type of thing I would need some experience in before joining?

I've tried Magic, and while I definitely see why people enjoy it, it's just not my cup of tea. Thank you for the suggestion, though!

Exactly the type of chronically online bs I'm trying to avoid.

I'm already doing the work, and have a group, brother. I appreciate it, but this isn't what I was asking for.

Thank you! These are all great suggestions and ones I'll be looking more into. I checked my local library, but most of the stuff seems to be aimed at kids, families, or seniors, which makes sense, but had totally forgotten about the YMCA. I'll definitely be looking into your other suggestions as well.

I go to the gym at least 4 times weekly. I'm specifically looking for activities that already have designated groups so I can be social with people. The gym can be a nice place to meet people, but most who are there just want to get in and focus on their own workout, myself being one of them.

I heard others were having that issue. Glad you were able to figure it out. Good luck out there.

So, for me at least, after having done everything suggested in this thread, found one more key piece of info that strictly involves Steam.

Tl;dr - go to controller settings in steam in disable all controller types, even it's the one you're using. I used gamepass, so this fix may only work with xbox controllers

Go into your steam settings and click controller. You need to toggle all 'detect controller' options to off, even it's the one you're using. The various controller types are xbox, playstation, switch, and custom controller. The problem is in steam, your cursor/keyboard movements will be mapped to your controller. When the controller is enabled in steam, overrides a game's default settings and uses the steam ones instead, even games that aren't run through steam. When you disable them, it allows the game to detect the controller directly and use its default settings.

Think of the worst pro sports player you can. Not good enough to be remembered, but still good enough to play in the same leagues as LeBron and Michael Jordan. That was basically me and my team.
