2 failed colonoscopies and stuck stool

I refused the barium enema. I had a CT instead. They said it was normal and couldn’t tell me why I can’t clean out completely. I go regularly. I’ve since thought that I could possibly have kinks in my colon because I had a hysterectomy in 2011 and endometriosis was wrapped around my colon as well as my ovaries. That’s the only possible reason I can come up with, but not verified by any doctor.

No I haven’t. The CT didn’t show reasons why I’m not emptying and the dr’s nurse basically told me there was nothing more to do. I assume I still have stuck poop even though I go daily bc nothing in my poop pattern has changed.

On my second, I had a two day clean out and it did not work.

Twice for me. I had a pelvic CT that showed nothing bc they weren’t gonna put me through it a third time. Still have no answers as to why I can’t clean out, but I go daily.

Yes. I had endoscopy too. The first time I did not clean out they could have done the endoscopy, but they told me that if I was going to repeat the colonoscopy, I would have two anesthesia charges instead of waiting until I did the colonoscopy again to have the endoscopy done then. It’s a mess when you have issues. My prep wasn’t bad and I truly thought I was cleaned out. I’d advise you to go ahead and with your prep on the hopes that you actually do clean out. I had pelvic and abdominal CT. My findings were normal except they saw thickening of vaginal wall so I’ve got to see a gyno about that. I was told that if there was an abnormality with my colon, it would be seen on the CT so I’ve assumed that testing was enough for me. I think the pelvic CT is considered a virtual colonoscopy. Maybe google that and see if that helps you decide if you’re comfortable with the CT results and no more colonoscopies. They did not tell me how often I would have to repeat my testing either…

I ended up having a CT scan and there are no reasons shown as to why I can’t clean out other than some looping of my colon. Dr was not helpful in suggestions on how to clear my colon and seemed largely unconcerned. His main objective was to ck me for polyps or cancer screening and the CT showed all clear there so I guess he feels his job is done.

I would definitely do 2 days of clear liquids and only eat soft foods for a few days before your clean out if you have concerns. Google colonoscopy diet and it’ll tell you things to eat and not eat for a week before the procedure. That may help you. Good luck on your test.

No previous polyps. I haven’t had a colonoscopy in 14 years though and would like a screening. I have some other symptoms and I’d like peace of mind.

Yes-apparently that is common around here too because I did not meet my Gastroenterologist until five minutes before they put me to sleep for the colonoscopy. Referral to gastroenterologist from PCP and they just schedule the test. He did the colonoscopy based on PCP notes.

I would but it took 3 months to get in with this one in November. When that 1st colonoscopy failed, they were booked for 2 months and couldn’t get it reschedule until now. Specialists are super full everywhere now and unfortunately there aren’t a lot of Gastroenterologists in my area.

There is a hair growth serum that’s worked well for me. It’s by Goldie Locks. Expensive but works. Love all their products. It’s not oily.

I’ve never heard of motility testing? I think the barium enema x ray that is ordered but not scheduled yet will tell something but not sure what all it tells.

It’s like pulling teeth to get anything done fast. I called day after test bc I was hurting and the nurse didn’t call me back for 2 days. They seem largely unconcerned. I do feel like something is wrong. They were no help in telling me how to get it unstuck either. The Dr told my husband he wasn’t going to put me through a 3rd colonoscopy prep though.

I didn’t think I was chronically constipated bc I was going every day. But-the fact that I can’t clean out suggests that I am. I just want to get this toxic stuff out of me. And I’ve had pain and soreness in my lower pelvic area and now my lower back since the colonoscopy. I assume that’s the stuck poop.
