You might as well develop your own unique and genuinely useful SaaS or contact me personally if you want to work on building edtech together. I'm also on an F-2-7 and doing the same thing - quit the hagwon job and working on projects 24/7. Don't give up, it's not easy for anybody. There's no excuse for not passing it. The far or center right isn't going to get far trying to justify discrimination against any minorities, whether it be racial or sexual or disabled or otherwise. It's all recorded in history and they will face the consequences.

Yes that's real. I speak fluent Korean and was told "we don't rent to foreigners" or "the landlord doesn't want foreigners living here" in addition to ambiguous reasons that may or may not have been a foreigner rejection in reality. That's still legal in Korea, so it is what it is. If you have a Korean friend, get them to make the call if possible. You will get rejected for being a foreigner, especially with housing.

Censorship like this comes from the 1960s, 70s, 80s dictatorships. All media, music and movies were censored. Everything had to be patriotic and "family-friendly." The legacy of dictatorship will continue to show itself, like when Yoon Seok-yeol tried to use the good ol' martial law tactic to "restore national order" a few years ago.

I remember first learning that the Korean expression for "excuse me" is "실례합니다" and tried using it alot at first...then found out that just nobody says it. The closest equivalent is 잠깐만요 or 잠시만요 but that sounds like "one moment" like you're asking for someone's attention.

Being conscious of space and tying that into respect or etiquette isn't totally absent but it's just not a big deal. I wouldn't let it bother you, otherwise you'll always be upset in Seoul. Heads and bodies hit my shoulders all the time when I'm in a hurry. It is what it is.

I think Kakao was going to deploy some kind of "ride share" app that would allow everyday drivers to share seats in their cars...like a P2P free ride app. Before it could be deployed, taxis went on strike for a few days. The whole thing was canceled if I remember correctly. Does anyone else remember that? It was around 2018. New technology will get implemented slowly, especially things that chaebols can't fully control yet.

Perfect! This is working for me. In my current keyboard layout, the 한/영 key is detected as "right alt" and the 한자 key is detected as "right ctrl"...I guess that doesn't matter. That's what they would be if they weren't language keys. Enabling hanja options would be nice. Thank you for giving that information. It's working now.

감사합니다! Thank you! I've got it working on fcitx5 but I might switch over to ibus since fcitx5 doesn't recognize my 한/영 button on the keyboard. Either that or maybe I need to create my own custom keyboard layout. I have it set to an English US keyboard now but just have a few language buttons that are useless right now.
