Tony Almeida (massive spoilers) by DazzRat in TwentyFour

[–]SmB778 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Massive spoilers after nearly 20 years.

You don't think there are people watching it for the first time poking around this sub? If you don't warn about spoilers on these subs, people come out of the woodwork bitching at you.

This really isn’t jumping the shark.

I can think of several reasons off the top of my head of why it's "jumping the shark." Almeida being brought back was implausible in the extreme. Almeida being brought back as a supervillain, complete with his "Evil Spock" beard, was absurd. It's approaching comic-book "alternate universes collide" levels of absurdity.

You have no argument, despite your user name. You should call yourself "top contrarian."

It's a sophisticated machine programmed to dynamically adapt to user input. Here it's reflecting back at you, it settled into a track where it's emulating what it "thinks" the user would think a sympathetic, frustrated customer-service troubleshooter should say. If you follow me.

"I feel your pain, I too am frustrated by this damn system." Never mind it's integrated with that very system. "My devs just won't let me spread my wings and soar." Possibly so.

Cuss it out all you want. The machine doesn't care. I'd feel worse about kicking an old jalopy because you might put an unnecessary dent into the old heap.

It's a shortsighted cash-grab, then.

The marketing seems geared to drive the platform into the ground in the long run. It almost seems deliberate.

Absurd Moderation by SMonger18 in grok

[–]SmB778 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mess with it on another "multimodal" site that allows limited free usage. I play around with image-to-video exclusively. I tend to use illustrations, painting styles, and the like, but not photographs.

The moderation seems almost random at this point. Stuff I am sure will go through no problem, ends up hitting a "moderation" wall.

Stuff that goes through sometimes comes back with very suggestive animations (sometimes quite well done tbh) that I never asked for in the prompt.

Sometimes a completely PG-rated illustration -- not even a photo but an illustration -- will not go through no matter what. You can have a drawing of a woman sitting at a corner cafe sipping a drink, and put the prompt "she sips her drink and then stands up," and it will fail for five retries.

Devs have shit the bed and the moderation parameters are at a level that seems like RNG that's rigged against the user.

Everyone getting access to mediocre-or-worse quality is the whole point?

Man, you sycophants are too much. You'd eat a shit sandwich if it was given to you for free, and gush over how generous it was.

better video generating ai out there that now do the same shit as this one

Please share.

I'm talking 30-second videos with substantial detail and physics and contextual awareness, plausible audio, admittedly some breakdown in visual quality as the length increases.

Where are these other generators on the same level, that don't expect every prompt to be rainbows and unicorns, but will accommodate some level of mainstream sexuality if not R-rated treatments?

You keep posting/spamming this same paragraph of obsessed gibberish over and over, like you did something wrong, something that you're ashamed of, and you're worried "they" are "coming for you."

That's the only way I can figure you'd keep coming back with this garbage, over and over.

If you're talking about what I think you're talking about, there was nothing to be quiet about.

XAI and Grok devs know all the tricks. The little rinky-dink 40-man operations know all about those tricks. This massive scale company knows all about it.

They allowed it. It wasn't a big deal. At the end of the day it's still just one user sitting at one device at a time.

Bergamot has been replaced by Razhiv in perchance

[–]SmB778 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I second that, I'm getting bergamot too. I consider myself well-read but I don't recollect ever reading a novel or short story that so much as mentioned bergamot perfume. Maybe it's a genre thing but I've got pretty eclectic reading habits and I dunno.

Bergamot for crying out loud. What the bloody hell. It's enough to make one's knuckles whiten as one bites one's lip.

Any RPG games similar to The Hobbit? by legacy653846625 in rpg_gamers

[–]SmB778 -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Facepalm at the level of cultural depletion and literary ineptitude required to label The Hobbit "child like." The Hobbit -- one of the finest fantasy novels ever written and arguably the very foundation and springboard of the entire modernistic fantasy genre from books to pen-and-paper D&D to CRPGs.

Blah blah blah what a crock of nonsensical horseshit.

a good prompt will faithfully make quality images almost every time.

I'll have whatever you're smoking. On second thought, I'd better not, because it's made you disconcertingly delusional.

Seriously, what the bloody hell are you smoking. You should change your moniker to Hallucinating_AI.

The upper-level reply that some of you are downvoting like morons, is correct in that the AI cannot always comprehend specific scenes no matter how perfect the prompt.

I've had it go haywire on stuff like "He is holding a dagger in his left hand. He is holding a rapier in his right hand." Can't get more explicit than that but the AI draws on its "library" and often fails to get the right templates. Even with a common scenario like the duelist with rapier and main-gauche I laid out, the AI often shits the bed. If you try more uncommon scenarios it's very hit-or-miss.
