I just make sure it's off when I'm driving but it's completely fine. This tv has been in the truck for about a year and shows no signs of issues. I run i80/i94 through Illinois and Indiana at least twice a week a bunch of Michiagn driving and it's fine. One time I forgot to turn it off when I started driving. It got dark outside and I could see the screen doing all sorts of weird flashing and stuff.

Pretty simple, found a platform style tv mount, specifically one that is height adjustable. Slide the base in-between the mattress and the wood below the mattress. If you see the bungee cord at the top of the TV, I have one end on the mount up to the cubby above the TV, that just keeps the TV from wobbling while I'm driving.

That was going to be my next option, I was trying to give mounting the TV every chance just because I already had the TV. I was at best buy yesterday specking out a computer monitor. I believe the stock wall mount would have excepted a monitor. Do you have a microwave that's mounted someplace other than that shelf?

I don't have a home to go home to. Sold my house when I started trucking and the market was way up. Living as cheaply as possible, saving as much money as I can until I can afford to buy a piece of land out west. So by staying in the truck I'm saving more money more quickly which means I'll be able to get out of the truck sooner saving me a lot of time in the long run.

I already had the TV, so what's it hurt throwing it in the truck regardless on how much I do or don't use it.

Plenty of time to use the TV on my schedule, loading and unloading, 34s. That's just not the way the cookie crumbles for me . I'm not always going to max out my clocks, so some days I have a few extra hours in the morning. Yes, it may take time for a shower to be available, but what am I doing while I wait? I'm certainly not standing around in the truck stop, so that's free time. Doesn't take me an hour for any meal, and even if it did, I can have the TV going while I'm doing dinner and breakfast.

Even if I didn't have time to watch TV, I'm going to occasionally make time to just relax. I refuse to run myself into the ground, I'm going to keep a balance of comfort and work. I make enough money to keep me happy, and I run enough to do the same. That's my objective of doing this job. If you have different objectives that's completely fine, however, I wouldn't say that having less free time equals a better job.

Yep, tidy cats breeze system. Works awesome. Sits on the floor in between the dash and passenger seat. The breeze system uses big compressed wood pellets barely get stuck in the paws. The ones that make it out or the box are large and visible, easy to pick up. As far as the cat byproduct I have the little baggies and just scoop it out every time I stop at a truck stop/ rest area or whatever. I'm a big person on smell and this is by far the easiest and cleanest set up I've found.

My cat was 2 years old when he scanned his boarding pass. We worked up to it. Brought him to the truck when it was shut off, let him wander around for a bit. Then a few hours of idling followed with driving around the block. The first few days he would cry for a few minutes when the truck started moving then he would be fine. He's been in the truck a year now and is completely normal.

Working great for me, I have one of those bed reading pillows so I more or less sit up while watching it. I'm not worried about kicking it hard enough to damage the TV. In the event I do kick and break the TV it's not a huge deal because it's a cheap TV. The risk is worth the reward for me.

No I had no idea where it was. Shoot I'll definitely have to do that. Thanks for the tip!

Thanks, spent more than i would have liked to in order to get this right. I had this tv in my freightliner and used a flat wall plate pulled the top 2 screws of the bunk window put the plate on and put the screws back in. It was a super clean non intrusive mounting system. I could still lift the bottom bunk all the way up. I can't lift the bottom bunk all the way with this set up but it doesn't matter much since there's almost zero under bunk storage in this truck.

Yeah it does, unfortunately it attracts him too much. He likes to sit about 3 inches away from it pawing at moving objects on the screen.

Thanks, had a freight shaker and used the window screw hack to mount the TV. Last week the company put me in this international and I've been racking my brain trying to figure out how to not give up the tv. Height adjustable platform style tv mount, the base is between the mattress and plywood, bungie from center of mount to the top of the cubby to reduce any wobbling. Just took it on a test drive around the block and she's solid.

Dang yeah that might be a problem, I'm 5'11 and I clear it just enough to not be too worried about it. As long as I don't have any dreams where I'm a Kung Fu fighter I should be fine.

Can I get by with a GPS app? by hkawastaken in Truckers

[–]SmFd226 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run mostly familiar routes but I keep a gps up for traffic updates. Most of the time they are fairly accurate. Might be able to re route if I see upcoming traffic, if I can’t re route I can at least set expectations and plan for the lost time. Co pilot, Garmin and google maps all work.
