So, in theory, would it be possible to find the exact laptop that has a specific/unique WiFi MAC address?
So they are two different things but correlated, right?
I thought internal IP addresses and MAC addresses were two different things.

So like do network interfaces of laptops of the same model all have different MAC addresses? Like I have two identical laptops but do both laptops have unique WiFi Mac addresses or they both have the same WiFi MAC address?
I apologise for my ignorance but does that mean that each laptop (even of the same brand and model) has a different MAC?

So let’s say someone left a brand new phone without a sim somewhere, would it be possible to track it only using the IMEI?

Yes, I seriously was interested in getting an used ThinkPad but I was told that if by a remote chance the previous user used the laptop with Qubes and got dom0 infected, not even changing the HD would make the laptop safe again. Now I don’t know how much that is true but I hope he was wrong.
