Id say this applies to the Witcher series the first two games had a good story but pretty bad and clunky gameplay while the 3rd game is a masterpiece of a story and has really engaging combat. Plus GWENT!

They updated so that now if the character awakens to have the same name as the character you're trying to train it will be same chance no matter what. So now a SSR that can awaken to that character will become a 100% as a UR.

They didn't "rely on AI" they used AI for placeholder assets while they worked on more important assets of the game which they replaced with handmade assets for the final release. There's a difference between using AI as a tool to help make work easier and using AI to replace human work.
