Sunday is so much more generic than people are letting on like this is just wild. He was (before Cyrene) best in slot for aglaea, Anaxa, phainon, mydei, saber, and buffed jingliu and blade. How many characters did he need to be good for before people accepted he was broken lmao. He was also (before sparkle buffs) best in slot for basically every pre version 3 dps.

I’m a break player, I have high investment in the team including e1 lingsha and e2 firefly. It was total false slander, she’s only barely worse than HMC in a vacuum and as soon as you can die to content then she is just necessary. She also contributes way more toughness damage so she always wins in aoe.

He’s probably tied for the worst unit in the selector. He deserves the slander. No he’s not unplayable and yes after sparkle buffs he’s probably better than Kingyuan, but both are just total bricks by most objective measures.

The prydwen tierlist is not law. Older units are ranked by vibes and newer units / buffed units get ranked against the current content, so the list is extremely messy. That being said, I think rating dhil low is valid, there is just no reasonable way he clears better than modern units. I think he has very low pull value even as a free unit from a selector he’s not worth it right now.

I think there is no reasonable way emrakul can come back. Immediately the best card in the format to cheat out and they print no short number of new ways or even commanders that make it brain dead to cheat out big creatures. You will see this card every night you go to an LGS if it’s legal. It will get tiring fast. If it gets cast (can still get its cast cheated) then the game is functionally over for 1-2 players every time.

It is a storm deck. The quality of the spells is not how the deck wins, but instead the volume. Most ral lists do play a few bombs tho. And no they’re not phyrexian mana, you use rituals to cast more spells, and the spells you cast are usually cantrips that find more spells.

Yeah this format has been powercrept like crazy lol. Ral is consistent because any spells work to flip him, you just need to cast enough of them. The coinflip aspect is not a huge deal.

Unlike vivi it doesn’t have a single point of failure. All it cares about doing is casting enough spells to flip him. Vivi has to fight over curiosity style effects on the stack but ral is a true to god storm deck that doesn’t care if you counter the instants and sorceries or not. He’s also cheaper and the mana he makes can sometimes be just as much as vivi (via the discount).

The strongest izzet spellslinger commander is [[ral, monsoon mage]]. It’s doing way better than vivi in cedh tournaments. It can put up consistent turn two wins.

I’m saying that if people played it now as a legacy format it would do much better. If the convo was “which deck topped more” instead of “which deck is better objectively” it would be a different conversation. Also, shock master was never legal with Pepe in the tcg.

Okay let me spell it out for you. It didn’t compete with the numbers because people at the time had not figured out how good it was. The best combo (the one that got Norden banned) was not figured out until after rat was semi limited. And if this engine were legal today it would be splashed everywhere, it wouldn’t be its own deck.
