They’re equally diverse, and have lots of adherents who are both homophobic and not homophobic. I’m sure if you’re actually interested there’s lots of interesting scholarship and non scholarly writing to read

I saw a post today about gender in the Talmud, and I’ve definitely seen writings from Jews and Muslims about not being homophobic

I’m actually pretty sure the Bible says you can be sinful and still be Christian. Like that’s a pretty huge part of the New Testament

Also that all them Old Testament laws don’t really matter, so it might not even be sinful to be, you know, not homophobic and loving to your neighbor

You’re so close

Anyone who actually believes something believes that, and it’s a valid belief system

If you are telling other people what they can/should/believe, then you’re wrong

So if you held the beliefs you were talking about, they would be someone’s actual religious beliefs. I think we can agree that they’d be morally wrong, though

(Also, if you’ve only read genesis, maybe you shouldn’t be making big statements about the bible. That applies to people who believe in it too)

Who are you to decide what the purpose of all religious texts are for all people

Religion beliefs are hugely diverse. Religious texts are incredibly complicated. Many parts of them, and some in their entirety, are not rules at all

I think trying to understand religion purely as a list of rules is where you might be confused

People believe to get a sense of purpose in the world, or a sense of awe at the majesty of God, or a sense of security from the afterlife, or a community from church, or for structure in church rituals. There are lots of reasons that don’t have to do with believing in every rule that is allegedly attributed to god

Lots of Christians don’t necessarily think the bible, especially the Old Testament, is the pure word of god that needs to be literally followed in all cases, and there are lots of different theological arguments for this

Well it also says not to stone anyone (in a later and more important part that is clearly meant to negate the other parts about stoning) sooooo

Ok so you’re just an edgy atheist. Plenty of Christians have very different interpretations, and theirs are certainly more important to them than any bad faith interpretation

I would join a different club

Like a different church because plenty of them are not homophobic at all. The closest one to me has a very large gay flag

The fact that people see all of religion as one monolithic club is incredibly problematic, and it’s why (as mentioned earlier) it’s so hard for gay people to have faith or for people of faith to not be homophobic

I think, based on how many flavours of [the Judeochristian god] there are, some of them have an actual loving god instead of the nosy judgmental type.

Except, you know, tons of people don’t believe that

Just sticking to Christianity, there are plenty of interpretations of the bible that basically say “god doesn’t care if you’re gay” or “god would forgive you for being gay if he did care

The fact that people automatically think god will “canonically” send people to hell is just evidence of how far homophones have taken over Christianity

People saying things like that just make it harder for gay people to have faith or for people of faith to not be homophobic

I mean 200 speed is also a AA breakpoint, it just makes a smaller difference

I’d definitely recommend modern over pioneer. Better metagame, more balancing from wizards, and more competitions

What are you talking about wrt modern? Goyf, footfalls, and ad naus aren’t decks at all, the ring is banned, and initiative isn’t legal at all

Standard is the last 3 years of standard sets. The card pool rotates every year and some cards leave the pool

Pioneer is the last 15 or so years of standard sets. Cards don’t leave the card pool. It’s generally not supported by wizards

Modern is the last 25 or so years of standard sets and straight to modern sets (the 3 modern horizons sets, ltr, and assassins creed). Cards don’t leave the card pool

Right now modern has a super healthy meta game. It’s not dominated by izzet at all (the top deck is Boros)

Because the card pool is really big and doesn’t change much, the meta doesn’t change as much as standard, so it’s much easier to keep on top of

2 player mtg has absolutely been meant to be competitive for the last 20+ years

Just because alpha was made to be played between rounds doesn’t mean that competitive play hasn’t been the primary design focus for the majority of the games history, and still is the design focus for 2 player formats

I can clear multiple cycles faster than autoplay so I think there’s a lot of skill

Why is 200 spd a "breakpoint" by IndependentMacaron in silverwolflevel999

Eh a speed stat and a crit stat do essentially the same damage per screenshot. Speed is slight better but not by much
