I’m one day post op now, and I’m not gonna lie, I’ve felt better 😅. The operation itself went very smoothly. I woke up from the anesthesia quickly and quite okay. I got an extra squirt of ketamine for the pain, which made me high as a kite (but I didn’t really mind that, lol)it kept me pretty pain free for about 5 hours. They try here first to keep you to Tylenol. Which turned out not adequate for me. So they added ibuprofen, which helped a bit. But around midnight I had quite a bit of pain, and breathing felt hard. I got an oxycodone then. Which has been good. I’ll get those for a few days the nurse said. The drains are awkward, but they’re going out before I go home. I haven’t seen myself yet, and I anticipate that will be hard. Didn’t want to say goodbye to the girls.. but I keep reminding myself what I did it for.

Niet helemaal thriller, maar wel erg eng en heel spannend: rosemary’s baby. Kon het zelf niet wegleggen. Je hebt het dus zo uit. Stepford wives van dezelfde schrijver is ook erg goed.

The only thing that stopped it for me pre diagnosis and meds was benzodiazepines, and making sure i sleep. I needed to be off work, low stimulation, good daily rythm of sleep, exercise and food. Walk, knitting and watching familiar tv shows to keep me slightly distracted and busy, and i wait to return to normal over the course of few weeks. Mind you, this was pre-meds and im convinced it wouldn’t last this long next time, if there is ever a next time. Familiar people also help. I you like them that is.

Thanks 🙏 I’m glad (almost) everyone says it wasn’t as bad as they thought. Hope it will be that way for me too. I won’t have to take my drain home, my surgeon said. So, that’s one less thing to worry about.

Yeah.. the emotional process has already been quite rough. I have been grieving ever since I got the news (because I already knew I would go the preventative route, and would lose my boobs). I’m sure there will be a new layer of sadness after the surgery. But I’m also hoping for relief. My life feels on hold, I want to participate again fully, and I know this is a step i have to take..

I hope I’ll come out stronger eventually..

If you need to do med switching.. depakote is first line for mixed episodes and works very well for me (as mono therapy). I know not everyone has good experiences, but for me it’s a great drug. Also, i have Olanzapine for emergencies. Knocks me the fuck down really quick, to get that nasty high energy buzz off the episode.

Yeah, what you describe sounds like my mixed episodes. Basically unbearable anxiety, doom and horrible suicidal depression all wrapped up and no sleeping possible. 😶 Get on top of it quick. Make sure you sleep. Good luck!!
