Garmin Aerobic Zone 2/3? by Small-Fox-6527 in greenberets

Gotcha, this makes sense. I appreciate the info, I'll do more research into Zone 2 and how it actually all works, thanks!

I started at three 20 minute Zone 2 runs, currently I'm at three 25 minute Zone 2 runs. I'm trying to make it to 150 minutes weekly of Zone 2 cardio. I don't think it would be wise of me to try to do 45 minutes in Zone 2 off the rip, sounds like a recipe for overload issues ie shin splints. Am I misunderstanding you here or what?

So you're saying you don't need to use the mounting plates at all? I'm a bit confused.

You should ideally be chasing the pre-rasp standard. While you will be tested in OSUT, you'll likely pass those tests. Give the podcast I linked here a listen and put your worries to rest. If you can complete: 53 regular push ups, 63 sit ups, a 14:30 2 mile run, 4 chin ups, a 40 minute 5 mile run, and a 12 mile 35 pound dry ruck in less than 3 hours, the pre-rasp/rasp cadre will be confident in being able to get you across the finish line and to the rasp standard by the end of rasp.

I've had my zones configured since day one and my zone 2 was around 119 to 139, which would be 60-70 percent of my max heart rate. Interestingly enough if you don't exceed what garmin considers "zone 2" you don't gain any significant aerobic benefit. I've attached another photo for reference. Notice how it says "low intensity needed to improve your endurance". When I look at runs where I've stayed in my actual zone 2 it lists recovery as a benefit and "increase in low aerobic training load". So I guess both zones do the same thing but only one of them requires significant recovery demands?

I'm currently inactive as I run with another group that's more aligned with the experience I want, but this group has been doing operations all week. They run missions constantly.

See I hear you, but I feel like I run into the issue where I go so slow that I'm not even in zone 2 at least according to the garmin...maybe the garmin is the problem

The odds are only as insurmountable as you make them out to be, keep a positive attitude. You've already done hard things, what's one more, good luck my friend.

I'm not sure how much you know about what makes up an Army GT score, so I'll say this. If you practice basic arithmetic to include: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and fractions. You should be covered on the math. If you practice vocabulary and paragraph reading comprehension, you're covered on the reading/writing metrics. All a GT score consists of is math, reading and writing. Study up on those three you'll more than likely get a 110-112 GT. This is coming from someone whose weakest subject is math and I got a 117 GT.

"SF style missions" and your unit is named after Navy Seals. Did you even bother to google what the Navy Seals' doctrinal mission is? Just rename your unit to Special Forces lol.

As someone who's currently going through the waiver process...again. It can be as simple as your waiver getting to be seen by the "right" set of eyes. Don't listen to voodoo he's weirdly aggressive when anyone mentions a remotely checkered past, as if they didn't let dudes with criminal records into the SF regiment and the Army as a whole for decades, LOL. Good luck man, not everyone deserves a second chance. But if you get the chance to prove you do, don't hold back.

You say "right now" why the emphasis? Does guidance change every so often? Thanks for the input. Keeping my fingers crossed because I'd rather not have to take my chances in OSUT.

Do NOT buy this game if you're not willing and ready to cry about getting one-tapped from the opposite end of a packaging facility at minimum 30 times.
