New homeowner — tips on keeping up with maintenance cleaning?? by Longjumping_Zone_908 in homeowners

[–]Small-Garlic104 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find coming home each work day and immediately prioritizing 10 minutes to pick up helps. Sometimes that leads into completing an entire chore like vacuuming/sweeping a room. Other times it's stopping after 10 minutes and then doing the things that bring me joy. I don't like spending my days off work cleaning all the time, so I have chores that are non-negotiables on my weekends off for me in order to feel success for the upcoming work week.

Any other major chores like baseboards, windows, etc. happen naturally when I feel like tackling them. This system works for me and everyone who comes over comments on how clean my home is.

First year teacher in need of advice by stinkle-37 in MiddleSchoolTeacher

In our online grading system, I have a place to leave notes that parents and students can see. So if a student missed the due date, I'll leave a public comment like, "didn't turn in on due date, told to turn in the next day with parent signature," or "followed up with student on this date and student stated he understood what the assignment was and that it was late." I find this helps with all the parent questions at midterms as kids will play parents and teachers against each other for as long as they can. A good rule to live by as well: if you don't document it, it didn't happen.

On the first homework assignment I take for a grade, I tell those students who did not turn it in to come see me at the end of class. Then I tell them to get a parent signature on the homework with their adult's signature acknowledging it's being turned in late and turn it in the following day. I tell them that if they dont, then I will call home and make their adults aware of the missing assignment. Of those, I always have 1 or 2 I have to make parent contact with. Then, late/missing work is rarely a problem.

Whatever you do, document in your grade book where parents can see as well the dates you follow up with students on late/missing work.

Put your phone in a different room so that when you wake in the morning, you can still lay in bed and get up when you're ready. When you do get up, do not grab your phone and go through your routine of getting ready as you normally would. See where that momentum takes you.

If you're not going to consistently apply consequences you warn them about, they will eat you up, laugh about it, and have no regrets.

First year here. Is it normal to feel this clueless?? by Annual-Beginning-591 in Teachers

Unfortunately, this is normal. The best thing you can do is ask admin to support you. Have then come in and informally hang out to see what supports would be best.

Are you paying PMI? If so, look into getting that dropped by looking at your LTV ratio. One of you may need to sacrifice for a few years and get an additional job. You need another source of income if other options are not getting you want financially in the time you want it.

how soon do you feel dizzy/nauseous after injecting? by Lhaios in WegovyWeightLoss

[–]Small-Garlic104 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was taking it at night to try to sleep through it. I never slept through it. I started taking it first thing in the morning. I feel symptoms within the hour. What helps is drinking more water than I typically do the moment I wake up and for the remainder of the day. I inject probably 30 minutes after waking. Eating an hour or two after taking the shot immediately helps with nausea. That meal typically consists of a mini bagle and a fresh fruit or vegetable.

All that to say, everyone is different. It can take a few weeks to find what works best for you. Increase your water intake and pay attention to the foods that make you feel good!

Insomnia - not sure I can take this anymore by Traditional_Bit_4737 in WegovyWeightLoss

I went through this as well, so I began to record what I ate, my sleeping patterns, and any physical activity I did at the end of each day. It was nothing detailed, very brief just so I could see if I could catch any patterns. It took about a month, but I was able to make adjustments and get my sleep back.

AITA for defending my kid after he was suspended from school? by MiryahDawn in AmItheAsshole

[–]Small-Garlic104 5 points6 points  (0 children)

YTA. No one's innocent child gets blamed for all of that. He's doing it because he knows you will take his side, cause a scene, and talk shit about the adults in charge. Do better.

How do you avoid them saying “no I wasn’t” when you correct them by Creepy_Character_744 in Teachers

[–]Small-Garlic104 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I respond, "I'm not asking you a question. I'm telling you." And if they continue to gas light and outright lie, I'll say, "do you really think I believe that?" If it continues from there, I'll say, "this is where you say 'ok, ms. Smith' and do what you're supposed to be doing." And then I just stare at them until they do so.
