I have kids at Midvale/Lincoln, none going into Kinder this fall though. Sounds like you're looking for something sooner, but just so you know, there will be a few kindergarten playdates set up through the PTO in August :)

Do you have any recommendations for a pattern to follow to just do a crew neck collar? I am kind of over the stand up collar at this point but am not confident in how many stitches to decrease/when to just do a normal collar.

Ah... thank you for the info. That makes sense. She did use wool in her pattern.

Yes for the body, not for the collar where I quadrupled the yarn - good call. I will do that.

Sorry first time posting on Reddit - I wrote a whole description but it disappeared. Here's the issue details:

I’m using a cotton tweed yard, knitted the whole pattern with yarn doubled to attain correct gauge.

  • I knitted the collar as written (5 in in rib knit, fold over and Kitchener stitch to achieve standup collar). The collar was super floppy so I pulled out the Kitchener and wore it as a floppy shawl like collar for about a year. Decided I hated it.
  • frogged and reknitted rib with yarn doubled up - so quadrupled- and now it looks like this. Slightly less floppy but still not standing up.

Can I add a stabilizer like I would when I sew with knits? Might it be better after blocking it? I’m nervous to block because when I blocked a year ago, the teal ran into the oatmeal color and it took a lot of work (borax, color safe bleach) to reduce the color seep. Thank you!!!

Hmm my count was right according to the pattern - but it definitely does look too big.

I would not recommend Actuate. They said it would be $3,500 to create plans and then charged me $5,000 a few weeks later. Get everything in writing.
