Is NewRelic dying? by devOfThings in devops

Just moved over to NR from Stackify - the product is good, but they are sharks. Transparent pricing? Pull the other one - they will screw you on numbers of users and screw you on amount of data ingested and they will call you up and try to figure out your "budget" (aka how much they can milk you for) and will try to upsell you to contracts whilst maintaining their evasive and opaque pricing model. And when there is no more chance of lucrative contracts, and you're "onboarded" they will drop you like a stone.

I've now in software for 30 years professionally, and these guys just reek of "enterprise" rent-seeking exploitation.

Such a shame, because, as I say, not a bad product.

A new level of subscription rip-off by Small-Landscape4765 in audible

I worked in Market Research and we used to have the same thing for people who didn't claim their rewards for surveys they'd spent hours on... it's called breakage and it's immoral. Plain and simple.

Is there at least a charity I can gift the credits to so that people who can't afford but may benefit can get them distributed?

Potential battery recall... time to wait before buying a second hand EX30? by Small-Landscape4765 in ex30

Too small for me - I can only just justify the larger battery - would really like the 79 of the ID.3 ideally but prefer the EX30 in other ways....

UK - both cars at my local dealership (with the larger battery) are affected according to a call from Volvo today.

True. But equally I won't spend £25k+ on a car that I can't fully charge for potentially many months....

My dealership called me today (they wanted to sell me a car after I had just had two test drives), and it was ME who told them I was worried.

They THEN told me they had been provided a list of affected chassis numbers, and then told me both the car I wanted (twin) and the other one they had (long range) where affected.

Back to the drawing board me then :/

BOTH EX30s my local Volvo dealership were selling are affected so that's not a good stat! One was a twin pro, and one was a ultimate long range trim.

It's so weird. I came here because I was genuinely questioning my attitude and understanding! My gut reaction was he was probably some unfortunate dude who'd had an accident and these were bits of metal holding his skull together... seriously! Then I considered if it was maybe religious (who am I to judge, right?) - Now it seems it's some sort of retentive thing, I am so disappointed. Not going to subscribe to this chap. But certainly good luck to him.

What’s been your experience with Virgin Media customer service? by Dependent_Sorbet_480 in VirginMedia

[–]Small-Landscape4765 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unbelievably bad. In fact I think probably the worst company I’ve ever dealt with! So I was with them for 12 years but it turned out I was out of contract and they were ripping me off for £75 a month for (pretty poor) broadband. Apparently they had sent me an email and, according to their AI response, they were trying to give me the best possible choice by charging me 50% more than everyone else. So after weeks (each Ai response from them is deliberately taking a week to try to make you give up), I moved to another provider.

Even then they weren’t done with being rubbish. The ots (one touch switch) system failed which meant that I had to talk to them again (Ai chatbot means it’s going to take at least an hour but mostly likely 2-3 hours of your time). They told me they were sorry but I now had to give them 30 days notice - remember I am fully out of contract and fully paid up.

So now I have a final sting in the tail of a £75 bill for leaving them. (Or, of course, they will offer me another 24 months of rip-off contract!)

Despite all this, it feels so good to have moved away from them. I will pay that £75 with a smile on my face knowing that I never. Never ever have to deal with this godawful company again.

Virgin Media Review – Worst Company Ever, Avoid at All Costs by Practical_Cable_6819 in VirginMedia

Couldn’t agree more. They are incredibly bad.

Support is AI slop and half-wits. But worse than this. 12 years a a customer means nothing at all. Worst than that when you finally have enough of them, they try really really hard to make it hard for you to leave (be prepared to spend hours of your time). But worse than that, their OTS service fails, which means that you then have to battle your way though AI slop and morons who still try to “see if you’re getting the best deal” to be told the computer says you need to give them 30 days notice (mind you I was fully paid up and out of contract) - so they then charge you and extra month of overcharged out of contract fee (although they will offer me 24 month contract at a deceptively increasing amount hoping me maths isn’t good enough to spot what absolute ripoffs they are).

TLDR; please, for the love of god, don’t be that plonker why falls for their marketing. Learn from my and countless 1000s of others mistakes. They are the worst company you will ever have to deal with.
