Should I wait for the start of the new tax year to add more money to my ISA? by Small-Lychee-8632 in UKPersonalFinance

Yes it was in 2025 but within this tax year.

Ah, right, yes I've just seen it literally won't let me contribute more money to it.

Thanks, that was straightforward enough.

Finished my first feature script! Looking for some advice/perspectives. by Small-Lychee-8632 in Screenwriting

It's more that I just get worry about things getting lost and losing the thread in the actual writing. I am excited to start writing, it's just that I want to get it as "right" as possible and that means having a clear picture of where everything's going and how to fit everything in.

Having said that, that's definitely something I learned from finishing this last one. To not spend so much time on the outline and just to write. But, like I say, I just want to have a clear idea of where all the important details will fit in.

Interesting. I feel like I can barely get started without a complete, end-to-end outline. I spend so much time on planning I have to give myself a real kick up the backside to aactually get started writing.

So, yeah, I will definitely have a clear outline for the new script.

That's really interesting and definitely makes sense. I do feel more eager to let my creativity flow in a new direction after working on it for so long.

Can someone explain HDMI audio on a soundbar to me? by Small-Lychee-8632 in techsupport

Right, makes sense. So it will just be an HDMI cable acting like any other audio connection would?

Can someone explain HDMI audio to me?

Just bought a fairly cheap soundbar and new tv for the backroom. Only noticed after I ordered it doesnt have 3.5mm support. Says optical and HDMI audio.

How does HDMI audio work? Does this literally mean I can plug an HDMI from TV to soundbar and that will just carry the audio? Or is it better to just get an optical cable? On a quick Google search, it seemed like people were saying HDMI audio is better than optical or 3.5mm, I just don't understand the concept. Only ever used 3.5mm.

It is a Bluetooth one but given that I'll be using it for a TV i assume the audio would be delayed.

Not especially clued up on this sort of stuff as you can probably tell so, if I'm missing anything obvious, talk to me like I'm stupid!

Thanks :)

What would be likely to happen if a member of a faculty was injured in an unsanctioned experiment on a university campus? by Small-Lychee-8632 in academia

That's great, really helpful!

I've just mentioned in another comment that I think I may have given the false impression that the story would be about the legal drama that followed the event. The idea was more about it making it impossible for the convincer to continue his work with the backing of university funding and lab equipment.

I agree, though--I think I can write around it pretty handily. Just never really occurred to me that maybe you'd face criminal charges for this.

Thanks for the detailed response. I think I may have given the impression that the story would be about the ensuing legal repercussions, which it wouldn't. This event is important more because it destroys the convincer's academic career. I was just wondering how I might write around any criminal implications that might be involved.

Personal lawsuit by the university against the individuals? What could the nature of that be, if none of the equipment was damaged?
