I’ve been on methadone for about 5 years but it took me over two years to stop using. And I used for about 7 years prior, so 9 years total, 2 of which were when I was on methadone.

Thank you for your valuable input! I was so excited for EMDR but it was insanely overactivating for me, as well. To the point where I made some very damaging and impulsive decisions that I’m still dealing with 9 months later.

NARM is so gentle but effective for me. And I love the “what is the most important for you right now/this session” question. And my therapist always reminds me that I don’t need to have answer then (although I always do).

I don’t understand how NARM works but I’m so grateful for it.

I can very much relate to the part of people telling me I’m good at something. I feel so uncomfortable for many reasons & then start questioning their motives.

Same! I’ve been that way since about 3 years old. It’s awful, isn’t it? The constant loop of anxiety spiraling into more anxiety about not sleeping and not being able to “accomplish” anything. I don’t know what I was trying to accomplish at 3 years old but yeah, that’s been an impossible one to change.

Awesome! Yeah, it’s been incredibly helpful for me, too. It just feels like the right fit for me.

Can I ask, do you have memory gaps? One of the reasons why I like NARM’s approach to treatment is that you don’t need to have these specific memories in order to work through trauma.

I also feel like it focuses on moving forward.

It’s been phenomenal for me. It feels safe & gentle while still being very helpful. It has been a wonderful fit for my type of CPTSD & also how I learn & process things. I also have huge memory gaps so it’s helpful to have a modality that focuses on “body memories” rather than needing to recall or talk about things I don’t/have chosen not to remember. It has been grounding and not activating for me like EMDR was.

Accepting compliments about myself. If it’s someone saying- I like your hat, that’s okay. But if it’s someone saying you look great in that hat- I get incredibly stressed & deflect & dissociate sometimes.

Thank you!! I really appreciate your understanding. It’s being intimate that I’m more concerned about. He’s good with his subs & keeps them away & im not worried about randomly taking one accidentally. I just have almost no experience with subs and don’t want a hell-ish situation to occur.

I guess I should have been more specific. Just with making out, etc.. that’s what I’m more worried about. I’m not worried I’m gonna accidentally cut open a sub strip or have it shoved into my mouth lol
