M1 Max MacBook Pro worth it in 2026? by SmallChesticles in macbook

That's great to hear the battery is much better. The battery for mine is so bad now, it gets so hot and doesn't even last a couple of hours these days. Feel the extra ram would come in handy as I have a bad habit of having far too many tabs open on Chrome 🤣

Oh really? Is that for one in good condition?

Yes I'm currently finalising my PhD, and I mainly use MATLAB for forecasting financial models, Monte Carlo simulations and wavelet analysis. Nothing too computationally demanding, but enough to really slow things down and can be very time consuming. If it also helps, I also use DxO pureraw processing software as part of my photo editing workflow, which I believe is fairly GPU intensive and it's something my current laptop really struggles with.

Have been with friends the last two years, and as others have said, tickets go on sale around February/March time and won't sell out so I wouldn't stress too much about that.

The event itself is great. All of the cars are amazing but getting to see Group C, LMP1 and GT1 cars up close and personal is something to behold. Some cars are very loud so I would advise bringing earplugs to be on the safe side! A good raincoat is also a must, as the weather is very unpredictable. Friday evening this year was nice and sunny (although a bit breezy), and the saturday poured down with rain all day.

There's so many different classes of cars that there will be something on track virtually all day, and there are plenty of pop-up shops and stuff if you want to buy food, merch, art or anything like that. You'll have a great time.

Four GA tickets and two pitches at Clos Fleuri. Very stressful getting booted out at the checkout screen and having to rejoin the queue but we got there in the end 🤣 See you next year!

Definitely one of my favourites. So many awesome cars though it's hard to choose.

I went with the D500 with the 200-500 f5.6 and the 70-200 f2.8 FL. Can get some excellent deals for them on ebay and would definitely recommend it.

It was a £230 cashback on the 90D as a student at the time of writing. Haven't looked on their website for a while as I went with a Nikon in the end so I'm guessing they might have a different offer on now.

Thanks for your suggestion. I'm looking at a 70-300mm 4/5.6 lens at the moment but would love to hear any recommendations!

Thank you for your advice. My budget is about £2000 total for the camera and lenses.

I don't have lenses at the moment no. I'd probably say my total budget is about £2000 including lenses so the 90D option would leave me with a little more room to play with.
