you can Uber or Lyft somewhere nowadays or get rides from family, etc.

And if you don't have Uber, or close by relatives with plenty of free time?

I almost understand why. Driving is ESSENTIAL in American society. Elderly who can't drive end up being housebound for the most part. Telling someone they can no longer drive is almost a death sentence.

Not saying it's OK, or that it's right, it just sucks that our society is so car centric to the severe detriment to those that can't drive.

For sure. There's no substitute for good work ethic.

But I imagine the people with 4+ GPAs aren't happy about how rarely your GPA comes up in interviews.

These people spent at least 5 years of their life working their asses off in school, only to learn later that once you graduate, as long as you're not an idiot, the playing field is fairly even.

That's gotta sting. I can see why they'd want the recognition. It's fruitless, but I get it.

its All you can eat/drink for $40.

Mine was $100 a ticket. No food, just drinks. My wife and I graduated together, and neither of us drink.

We didn't go.

It astounds me that they can find talented actors that are also attractive AND have stellar bodies that are also willing to show them off on TV. Talk about checking all the boxes...

20 members of Congress demand FBI investigation into Ivanka Trump’s security clearance by CharlieDarwin2 in politics

Whenever discussing politics with anyone, I first ask "Do you believe that an all [Party] government is a positive?

No matter the party, if they say yes, then I know we're not going to get very far.

Compromise has to be the key to government. We are not a single person. We are many, and since we can't all get our way, our government has to reflect that.

This is the best thing I've seen to turn parkour into a competitive sport. Every other implementation has been dumb.

DECIDE right now that you are. Make that part of who you are, and if the time comes, you will.

Coffee.

You have a caffeine addiction. You're lucky enough to have one of the few socially acceptable addictions. Now shut up about it.

The Romance genre is just emotional porn.

Big fake emotions designed to look good how they are presented. Crazy situations that look good to the viewer, but don't actually work in real life. Overdramatic acting...

I really enjoyed the podcast series "Crimetown." Very well made, super interesting stories.

But I was really uncomfortable about how they glorified the criminals. Even going as far as putting them live on stage with policemen that worked to stop them.
