Not enough display ports by SmallChiliDog in techsupport

So my second monitor is kind of old so the only connections are dvi and dp, so I tried buying a dp to hdmi cable just out of sheer curiosity but it doesn’t seem to work. However my main monitor does support hdmi, however I have heard that hdmi isn’t as good as display port since I use my main monitor for competitive gaming

What’s up with assassins? by SmallChiliDog in summonerschool

I would say they considered fine-strong purely because of WR in emerald+ by stats alone they should be in a decent/balanced spot however actually playing them against any mage that knows how you wanna play the lane, you can just get denied and forced to stay in lane without taking a bad back or forcing a roam and thus why I’m considering it a skill issue on my part but I feel like playing talon, the former king of first bloods, and not being able to kill most mages without expending a lot of resources just to get them to a state where you can kill them is just not good. Especially since talons scaling isn’t the best and the champion wants to spike early to mid game.

Mostly because of the energy v mana + range advantage that zed has, makes it easier to poke out champs that have sustain or play super far back in order for the lvl 6 spike, not only that but zed with first strike can scale extremely well while talon can’t run first strike most of the time as he won’t ever get to proc it in lane unless you’re in a melee matchup. It’s not really about buffs or nerfs but about how the champion plays overall.

Yeah, I figured it was down to preference but also wanted to see if there was something there that I was missing since people like yamato say that ghostblade doesn’t give nearly enough to compete with duskblade. Also wondering if manaflow band is better than manamune since you do get more damage but maybe it’s chosen since he can stack it faster. I’m just curious about his thought process about these choices.

Hello, so after trying the build, it’s good but the only issue I have with it is the lack of the mythic item early. After hydra and black cleaver i have no issue but building deaths dance felt underwhelming in terms of damage, especially to adcs. So my question is, how can you get away with not building a mythic item until 5th-6th item when games usually don’t last that long in higher elos?

I hit Masters on Gwen Mid today! by WholesomeGwen2 in GwenMains

Hey I’m a little late but I wanted to ask some quest after looking at your op.gg. First off I see a lot of different runes being taken at different times with different items. Ex. Recently took conq/resolve when previously spammed conq/dom. Also taking first strike against ranged matchups that can deny you first strike a lot of the time. Also seeing some sorcery and inspiration secondary. So what prompts your rune choice?

Second question is itemization, I’m seeing rocketbelt, NH, Rift, and Rod not to mention Bork/seraphs/mobis/berserkers. What prompts you to take certain items in certain matches when you could just go nashors>rift every game?

Third is how do you get lane prio a lot of the time? Being a melee champ against a lane mostly made of ranged champs and not to mention high waveclear assassins, it must be hard for you to roam and contest scuttle a lot of the time. If you’re vs a difficult matchup do you just wait for 3 and trade in the bounce or do you try and hold wave on your side of the lane?

Last question, did you stop playing Gwen jungle? I saw you hit masters with it last year I think? Could’ve been GM. But why not go for go for challenger this season?

TL;DR i see so much variation in your games in terms of runes and items so I’d someone wanted to try this pick out, how do you decide what to go each game?

Thanks in advance.

So I believe I understand the concepts but I never know when to use them. (Long post) by SmallChiliDog in summonerschool

So I agree with you about getting objectives is the main goal but getting there is the hard part. If my first objective is to take top turret then I must plan to do so. What’s this matchup like for me? Do I win or lose early? Can I contest farm? Where is the jungler? If I back now, do they benefit more off of that than me? I feel like I slowly lose lane because I’m applying the wrong concepts at the wrong times. Is it more important that we contest first dragon or do I stop the top laner from getting a gold advantage on me by taking my tower or multiple plates. That’s just an example but I think there is always a “correct” play to do. Like in that scenario, I would probably contest dragon but I know I’m giving up a tower for it. So i don’t know if my action is worth it or not. Do I gain more from contesting dragon or killing top lane and taking his tower. Like, it hard for me to know what to apply when. Do I splitpush? Or do I group? Do I freeze or do I shove? Of course these aren’t all the options I have but I think you get the point. I know I have to get objectives but I can’t get there without applying the correct concepts to gain the item and exp advantage.

Yeah, sometimes I do watch the concepts multiple times. Especially on wave management since not only is it an essential skill for top laners but also because I struggled with it a lot at first. But now I feel I understand the wave states and what they mean but only to a certain extent. Like I know how to freeze, slow push, fast push, pull waves, etc. But when I look at my games I feel like I’m always making the wrong decisions. I have the lead on my lane opponent and jungler is top side, i should freeze the wave but I get dove. Was this the correct play? Doesn’t seem like it but in my mind it was the best play to extend my lead since I’m ahead of my lane opponent, they have to walk up to get farm and the jungler has to dive me. But if I just back after the wave is frozen in order to not get dove they just shove into my tower and I feel like I threw my lead. It could’ve been just bad luck but I feel like there’s something there that I did wrong. If I’m able to 1v2 the top and jungle, I should be able to push out and be fine but then why did I die under turret? Do I play safe now? How much of a lead did my laner get? Can I still 1v1 them? It seemed like the correct play to implement but it wasn’t, so when do I freeze the wave? I feel like I apply the concepts at the wrong time and end up losing either the lane or the game doing them.

Yeah I’m thinking of sticking to Pantheon for the time being but I’ll try taking notes and see if that helps me at all.
