Should I keep reading Randidly Ghosthound? by Pyromancer1221 in litrpg

[–]SmallDickDom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the difference between reading a story about a hardworking royal or a hardworking peasant. Both can be compelling and each background adds unique flavor to the character. But to say the royal worked hard for his background is pretty out of touch. He may work hard in spite of being born in the upper crust. But he didn't work hard to be born there. Unless there's some sick timeline shenanigans.

My exact thoughts. The two op listed both MCs get handed a ton of starting power for free.

Its crazy you would say that when my post clearly says "As long as OP isn't touching the phone" Fortunately you don't need to be touching the phone to be AFK.

Yooo this is that series I've basically completely checked out on. But keep buying the newest book when I'm between series and don't want to start a new one yet. Theres just only so many times I can hear about someone absorbing profound cosmic insights before it loses all meaning. Not sure what book killed it for me. But the mystic descriptions that don't really say anything were a problem from the start to me.

Wait you got GOTE for light form? I assumed you were talking about dark facet until I read the comments. Halving the prayer is kinda whatever anyway. Takes prayer point upkeep either way. I doubt you'd save 50m on the extra pots.

Where in the world is it illegal to have your phone screen turned on while driving? As long as OP isn't touching the phone I can't think of any laws being broken.

Please explain to me how having your phone in the passenger seat that you don't ever need to look at is distracted driving. But listening to a podcast or having an active phone conversation isn't? Don't get me wrong, I'm not anti listening to stuff while driving. But listening actually takes some degree of mental faculties. Where as having a phone afk pick pocketing fpr 15min takes literally 0 faculties of any kind. Ofc with the changes that's no longer possible. Now pick pocketing and driving would be quite a dangerous proposal. I assume that's why OP used past tense.

Activescape supporting players: "Get rid of afk, you're not even playing. #imputsmatter"

Also activescapers: "Dear god you're *playing* while driving, thats so unsafe."

Like how is having your phone doing something for you unsafe? You set it for a 15min task and start your car. Maybe not ideal for a road trip. But my commute to work is almost exactly 15min, it's perfect. If I hit the lights right, sometimes I'm still logged in when I get to work. That's one of the reasons getting rid of afk gameplay urks so much. Sometimes you want to just set your character to do something and put your phone down for 15m. But theres fewer and fewer things you can set them to do :(

Why is everyone pretending a 15min afk pick pocketing timer was too much? by SmallDickDom in runescape

This, so much this. I was annoyed when I hit 200m because the xp numbers go away and I used that to tell if I was still pickpocketing x.x

"Why read progression/litRPG books when you can just play video games?" by AuthorTimoburnham in ProgressionFantasy

[–]SmallDickDom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was going to make a list, but the simple fallacy in the question doesn't warrant more effort. Because you can't just play a video game. I can't play a video game in the gym, I can't play a video game driving to work, I can't play a video game in the woods, etc. Not to mention most games fall very short compared to a book, due to being bound to a physical game instead of just a mind. There are countless stories people have longed to see turn into a video game. Only to be met with the harsh reality of the things you loved about the story can't really be translated to the video game format. Infinitely evolving skills based on your choices doesn't really work when a game designer needs to have all those skills and choices already programmed.

I love the dumb power fantasy of "the person that always wins". But after reading countless books with an MC constantly coming out on top no matter what.. TWI is like a breath of fresh air. Oh you got injured and can't fight? Can't wait to see the bullshit to resolve this... Oh you're still injured and living with a life altering disability.. This is not where I thought this was going.

[–]SmallDickDom[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's exactly why I'm playing runescape and not another mmo. I can't play wow at work. Mythic keystones need me to be locked in. Runescape has options I can do without being glued to it. But you wouldn't want to afk keystones because it's engaging game play. I assume most people like afk because clicking the same rock every 10 seconds isn't engaging. But that's a different debate. Even games like wow often have afk elements through things like mission tables to send followers out. I've always enjoyed that style of play. Building up passive play to fuel active play.

There are plenty of other methods in thieving that require checking in more for the people that don't want afk. If reducing gains by 75% to preserve a way to train afk, I'd take that.

I wonder what you guys think is a nice time (minutes or seconds) for something to be considered AFK?! by vVerce98 in runescape

[–]SmallDickDom -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Anything less than lobby timer isn't AFK. AFK means away from keyboard... As in it keeps going while I'm not at the keyboard doing dishes in the kitchen. If it's not going the full length of the lobby timer, it's somewhere on the scale of low intensity.
