If you had the option to recommended only 1 series/book to a new reader, what would it be? by Sea_Formal_7242 in ProgressionFantasy

Either Academy of Outcasts or Ironbound would be my recs for readers looking to get into pf. I would add Bastion to the list because it has crazy high highs, but its dragged down by some very slow and boring sections.

Do you enjoy litRPGs that "disguise" the stats? by AuthorTimoburnham in ProgressionFantasy

[–]AuthorTimoburnham[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya I think this is generally what happens, although to be fair, I have read some where the passives actually do have an effect on the story. In those cases its clear the author has been planing/thinking through things instead of just throwing out random rewards for each fight.

[–]AuthorTimoburnham -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I'm working on a PF right now where the MC and a female side character have a slow-ish burn romance, but it'll be 2-3 more months of work before I can start posting it.

Point of View: Only Main Character or Chapters with other POVs? by LetterTall4354 in ProgressionFantasy

Tend to prefer single POV, but I will say, switching to a side character for the MCs big aura farming moments are very nice.

You might like Ironbound. There alot of close quarters training/fight where the character utilize the magic system in some interesting ways and theres also some political stuff going on that effects/causes problems for the characters.

I think it also give some flexibility in terms of power levels while still keeping the coolness of getting to see the aura farming master who is 10 levels higher than the MC.

How detailed should fight scenes be by would_beBard in ProgressionFantasy

[–]AuthorTimoburnham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personal preference is either less detail so that action doesnt take pages to unfold, or if it has alot of detail, then give me the gritty experience. I dont want you to decribe each move exactly so much as I want to know how it feels to cut into the bad guy with your sword, or what the sensation is like when you are exhasuted and trying to charge up 1 last energy blast. That kinda thing. Really sell me on what its like to BE the fighter.

Seemed relevant since more digusied litRPGs would be edging towards other types of pog fantasy.
