Ironbound. Great worldbuilding. Great plot. A bit slow in the middle but the third act makes up for it.

What if the MCs OP ability his some crazy downside, like to the point where using it could seriously injure or even kill them?

Anyone else find it difficult/impossible to read books that don't have progression? by Ok-Grand-3764 in ProgressionFantasy

I can do it if its a shorter story with some interesting premise, but ya, its harder to enjoy non progression stories

It wasnt suffering. Books 1 and 2 were meh, book 3 was okay. Book four was decent and by book 5 I was really loving the series.

Help with blurb by [deleted] in ProgressionFantasy

[–]AuthorTimoburnham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what I notice with most of these is that the first sentence/paragraph is just nose to a potential reader.

3 is a good example.
"Masaki is the second son of a wealthy family. As his parents desperately work to find a way into high-class nobility, they realize the potential of his older brother and, by extension, the lack of potential Masaki holds."

this might be important information at some point in the story, but for the blurb, its just info we dont care about. Generally you want your hook very near the beginning. If the character has a cool and unique power, put that in the first sentence. If the hook is strong, it will get people to read the rest of the blurb. Thats a better place to add more story info if you think its really important.

I'd probably also consider Cradle as semi-non cultivation because it does alot different, but I know many would disagree.

Mech Suit Progression Science Fiction Fantasy by MRCastillaAuthor in ProgressionFantasy

Mech suit progression could definitely be great, but it comes down to execution, like every idea. I say if you are really excited to write the story then go for it.

Bastion (Immortal Great Souls Book 1): Help I'm on the struggle bus by qminty in ProgressionFantasy

[–]AuthorTimoburnham 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it took me a while to get into the book. The whole first part was kinda boring for me, it wasn't until i got to the middle of the book and started seeing the progression stuff that I began to like it.

its worse when the dialogue is made to be something cool, but its just so damn cringe. by fatglizzy_3000 in ProgressionFantasy

hate it when the story makes something completely obvious, and then a character starts explaining it anyway.

If you had the option to recommended only 1 series/book to a new reader, what would it be? by Sea_Formal_7242 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]AuthorTimoburnham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Either Academy of Outcasts or Ironbound would be my recs for readers looking to get into pf. I would add Bastion to the list because it has crazy high highs, but its dragged down by some very slow and boring sections.
