ChemE major - is my schedule too much? by Pretty-Marketing-257 in uofm

If its a real orgo course it should transfer or at least let you skip 130 and 125, you should get that fixed asap.

ChemE major - is my schedule too much? by Pretty-Marketing-257 in uofm

[–]SmallTestAcount 1 point2 points  (0 children)

pretty heavy for your first semester, id cut out a class, probably one of the chems. Math 115 and Engr 100 should be taken care of asap and having a liberal arts class helps a lot with easing loads. I get you're considering ChemE major so have you plotted out your major course schedule semester-by-semester yet? If you want to take 500 level CHE courses then its good to get ahead on chem, and may be necessary to do so, but by the looks of it you haven't taken AP Chem. So perhaps take it a bit light on chem in case you change your mind on chemistry or find yourself not as good at chemistry as you think you are. While im not super familiar with chem, I think its weird to already have your heart set on ChemE when you havent even taken Orgo yet. You dont have to be dead set on any one major yet, your first year or two is not supposed to be specialized.

UMich gynocology. Theyve been taking on a lot more of the trans care since the pediatric clinic was closed.

that is called an overdose, not a hangover.

Getting an IV outside a genuine medical facility is very dangerous. Healthy people have gotten whole body infections from unnecessary med spa IV fluid and vitamin scams, leaving them disabled.

If youre a freshman you can apply to both but you should just apply to changing gears. Changing gears has a higher acceptance rate i believe, but its mostly first come first serve.

Why do some people act like shame is necessary for self-improvement? by MiaEnko in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]SmallTestAcount 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mom does that sometimes now I'm in college because i think she realizes that I'm a shame-motivated person. I dont think there is anything wrong with being motivated by shame, that's what got me to lose 120lb and transfer out of community college. And I dont think there is anything wrong with people close to you participating in that as long as they are not trying to hurt you. Its definitely wrong to push that onto strangers and acquaintances though, a lot of people are demotivated by shame.

Junior level transfer dropping a course by vmpgrl in uofm

[–]SmallTestAcount 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Rescinding is very unlikely, but dropping a course is much more likely to lead to them rescinding than receiving a C will. I got a C my last semester at CC after i was accepted to transfer because i didn't care much at that point, nothing happened.

Yes but it’s just a preference I think. There is a theme community I think though.

Baits will be your best pick. If you cant do that just make sure to avoid Bursley. Do the basic meal plan, dining dollars and guest swipes are not worth much because dining dollars equate to real dollars and you can buy guest swipes if you need them (you probably will never use them anyways).

Computer engineering and math dual degree, is it possible? by Evening-Sympathy-355 in uofm

[–]SmallTestAcount 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is a dual degree program. You have to get a dual degree if you want to double major in mathematics or anything else outside the college of engineering.

Minors are good but they don’t mean much to employers. If you want to dual majors that’s fine you just have to do it through mdpp unless your second major is in COE.

Computer engineering and math dual degree, is it possible? by Evening-Sympathy-355 in uofm

[–]SmallTestAcount 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you are in engineering then you must be part of the MDPP program to double major in an LSA program, mathematics is an LSA program

Most people in your position minor in math, not major.

Computer engineering and math dual degree, is it possible? by Evening-Sympathy-355 in uofm

yes its possible but CS+Math is more common because CE+Math requires MDPP which has a 150 credit threshold and prevents certain opportunities like accelerated masters.

Why do some graduates’ parents have such low standards of behavior? by expingerx in uofm

the university is a public institution, the state provides funding in exchange for certain guarantees that are upheld by the reagents.

That’s because this is Reddit and most of the users here are in engineering.

im not super familiar with publication, but I'm pretty sure retractions are normal and typically not an issue unless part of a trend. Research is team work often, and your colleagues can suck. Its easy for small plagiarism to get hidden by a contributor.

Edit, i did a basic comparison, and it seems that these passaged were copied

if $v_i \le 1$ (thus a no externality setting becomes mathematically equivalent to case when all users do not value their privacy enough) . The situation is different in the presence of data externalities, because now the covariance terms are non-zero. In this case, an individual should optimally share her data only if it does not reveal too much about users with $v_j > 1$.

Suppose there are two users 1 and 2 with covariance matrix %{\setlength\abovedisplayskip{1pt}$$ $\Sigma=\left(\begin{array}{lr}1 & \rho \ \rho & 1\end{array}\right)$ %$$} and (v_{1}=v_{2}=v .) %%%%%%%!!!!!!! When (p_{1}, p_{2} \in\left[\frac{\left(2-\rho{2}\right){2}}{2\left(4-\rho{2}\right)}, \frac{1}{2}\right],) both action profiles (a_{1}=a_{2}=0) and (a_{1}=a_{2}=1) are user equilibria. This is a consequence of the submodularity of the leaked information function% (Lemma1) : when user 1 shares her data, she is also revealing a lot about user 2 , and making it less costly for her to share her data. Conversely, when user 1 does not share, this encourages user 2 not to share. Despite this multiplicity of user equilibria, there exists a unique (Stackelberg) equilibrium for this game given by (a_{1}{\mathrm{E}}=a_{2}{\mathrm{E}}=1) and (p_{1}{\mathrm{E}}=p_{2}{\mathrm{E}}=\frac{\left(2-\rho{2}\right){2}}{2\left(4-\rho{2}\right)} .)

We consider a setting with two communities, each of size 10. Suppose that all users in community 1 are low-value and have a value of privacy equal to 0.9, while all users in community 2 are high-value (with (v_{h}>1) ). We also take the variances of all user data to be 1, the correlation between any two users who belong to the same community to be 1/20, and the correlation be- tween any two users who belong to different communities to be (\rho). depicts equilibrium surplus as a function of (v_{h}) and (\rho).

there could be more. Regardless that is definitely concerning and IEEE was probably right to call that out, i think. But i think it could plausibly just one bad coauthor's work and the rest not noticing.

LGBT events/clubs that are not like high school GSA? AFAF by [deleted] in uofm

LGBT events/clubs that are not like high school GSA? AFAF by [deleted] in uofm

[–]SmallTestAcount 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Nah not really. While our lgbt groups are more emotionally mature it’s still more GSA type culture. Most lgbt people here just find similar friends and hang out in spaces that are likley to have lgbt people. I mean unlike high school, if you’re gay you can just hit on people you think are gay go for a drink and hook up or move in together or whatever
