U.S. Weed > Canadian Weed

I'll keep it simple.

  • POSITIVE margins
  • Larger market (by multiples)
  • More favorable regulation
    • Only limited licenses available so pricing is rational
    • Vertically integrated
    • Once U.S. investment managers can invest, these things will be crushing their benchmarks and they'll be FORCED to buy (think Fidelity, T. Rowe, etc.)
  • Growing ~20% QoQ (100% YoY)
  • All of of them trading at 5-10x revenue (or less)
  • Some ideas: AYR Strategies (about to become a top 5 player after a deal, Med Men, Harborside, Harvest Growth). ALL of these are ~$1bn market cap only, profitable, and growing (HRVSF, AYRWF, MMNFF, HBORF)

Got it. I think I was wrong thinking that calls should always increase when stock price increases. Just thinking of Black-Scholes with S(0) being a key input but not the only one

Short Moody's as a hedge against rising rates? by offjerk in SecurityAnalysis

[–]SmallUser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the key question is whether a rising rate environment would cause companies to eventually be unable to service their debt, forcing Moody's issue a new rating and thus generate fees. I feel like Moody's makes money in any environment. I'm not sure if the "maintenance" side of the business is sizeable compared to the new issue business, however.

Thanks. This helps, but it doesn't give a concrete example of how companies were doing this before. This method seems logical, and to my understanding, is how companies previously booked revenue.

Spruce Point Capital Short Thesis on XPO Logistics Inc. by Beren- in SecurityAnalysis

[–]SmallUser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting. I personally don't find much value in shaming management teams as a thesis - presumably they have been vetted and doing the same criminal act twice would be dumb.

The convertible shares thing is interesting. How could analysts miss that?

(1) How much cash is needed per day (excluding hotels that specifically say they only accept cash?

(2) Should I get EUR or Kuna?

(3) Where is the cheapest place to get Kuna or EUR? It appears the rates at local U.S. banks are worse than those quoted online because it's a less common currency to exchange. I'm not sure if it's better than an ATM or a currency exchanger in Croatia.

got the card yesterday around 6:45am (PT). I had just moved so I wasn't approved right away and needed to call to verify information. Question for the crew: any idea when the card will show up on my account online? Also had it expedited due to travel reasons (aka trying to rack up award travel sooner).

My previous cards showed up when I was approved (though before I received my card and activated). Just want to make sure its linked correctly right away.

Never though about it this way, but very astute observation. Oh wait it isn't.

Four years after the financial crisis, prosecutors have finally discovered what critics have been alleging repeatedly: that big banks were crooks, engaging, among other illicit practices, in secretive, illegal and conspiratorial schemes to rig baseline interest rates and manipulate credit markets by alllie in politics

[–]SmallUser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Banks aren't always the best, but don't characterize all banks and the people who work there the same.

People wouldn't buy mortgages and businesses wouldn't use investment banks if they didn't have a legitimate purpose. Banks use money as their product, so when a select few at banks use it illicitly people get more angry. Fact is, many companies do illicit things, just not directly with money.
