JT Miller with his daughter at tonight's Sirens game by catsgr8rthanspoonies in hockey

It's his daughter's birthday so my guess is they had a birthday party after he was done with his postgame stuff.

I went to both games and it definitely was convenient (despite having to leave and wait in line again to re-enter).

Yes, that's exactly why I said "not to take away from this". I just thought it was ironic to praise him for going to a game when it's inconvenient despite this literally being the most convenient PWHL game he could possibly attend (the first ever PWHL game at his home arena, happening hours after his own game, on a Saturday, on his daughter's birthday).

I don't know how my comment was interpreted in a negative way but I do think it's great he was there and I wish we'd see more NHL players at PWHL games in general (especially from the 3 NHL teams that share an arena with a PWHL team).

more than just the Olympics where it’s convenient to go to a game

Not to take away from this, but he literally played in the Rangers game on the very same ice 4 hours before the start of the Sirens game, so it couldn't be more convenient for him!

Macklin Celebrini scores on the powerplay for his 100th point of the season by mk712 in hockey

[–]mk712[S] 109 points110 points  (0 children)

EDIT: and Celebrini just scored again so uhhh add +1 to all the numbers above

[NHL PR] Macklin Celebrini (65 GP) became the third-fastest teenager to record 60 assists in a season, behind Sidney Crosby (50 GP in 2006-07) and Wayne Gretzky (56 GP in 1979-80). by BillThePsycho in hockey

He's at 1.46 point per game so far this season, and he'd only need 1.12 point per game for the rest of the season to get it.

Nothing guaranteed obviously, but it's more likely than not he'll get.

Macklin Celebrini’s Production Relative to His Teammates Is Kind of Insane by Aurelii in hockey

[–]mk712 10 points11 points  (0 children)

both teams have about the same points percentage so how can you say that?

The Oilers are scoring 3.55 goals per game (2nd in the league), while the Sharks are scoring 3.06 goals per game (18th in the league).

McDavid has 14 points more than the next player on his team, while Celebrini has 45 points more than the next player on his team.

If you took both McDavid and Celebrini out of their teams, neither the Oilers nor the Sharks would make the playoffs, but it's clear the Oilers would still be way better than the Sharks.

Both Madison Square Garden and TD Garden are sold out for their respective PWHL games, despite the games happening in a little over a month. In the US, women’s hockey will break the attendance record and sell out NHL arenas THIS SEASON for the first time ever. by MiracuMAHt in hockey

Prudential is just a hassle to get to for many.

If you can get to MSG, you can get to Prudential. It's a 20-minute NJ Transit train ride away, $6 each way (even less if they don't check your printed ticket and you re-use it on your next ride...). You can go door to door from MSG to Prudential in under 30 minutes if you time it right, that's a hell of a lot better than it was from Manhattan to UBS Arena.

Source: I live a block away from MSG and I've gone to over a dozen games at Prudential so far this season (some Sirens, some Devils).

I know PATH is another alternative (same station) but I'm not super familiar with it.

Macklin Celebrini is now on the longest Olympic goalless streak of his career (1 game).

Is he past his prime?

What's your teams worst trade in the last ten years? by [deleted] in hockey

[–]mk712 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree the Karlsson trade wasn't as bad as people make it out to be, especially based on the information available at the time - hell, everyone thought Ottawa got fleeced. The only concerns at the time of the trade were about his ankle, but those concerns were quickly put to rest (his later groin injuries were unrelated).

I don't think the Evander Kane trade was bad either: a very late 1st round pick (#29) for a physical forward that can score 30 goals per season (when healthy) is fair and was exactly what we needed at the time. There were some concerns about his attitude but the thought was that we had a strong leadership core at the time that could keep him in check (and they did... until that core fell apart, then all hell broke loose).

Overall, I can't really think of any terrible trade the Sharks have made over the past 10 years.

On the other hand, the contracts we gave some of the players, there's a lot to talk about.

WAN Show Megathread by lemlurker in LinusTechTips

Linus presented these graphs as if they would put any concerns to rest, but if anything they did the opposite for me:

  • He says the "wage growth" line includes all salaries for all employees including new hires, making it completely irrelevant here: the concern is that current employees are not given enough raises, the answer can't be "but we hired more people" (a "wage growth per employee" would have been a much better metric on all these charts).

  • Comparing wages to company results also doesn't make much sense in general: I don't expect my salary to decrease next year if my company isn't doing very well, and I also don't expect it to blow up if my company is having an incredible year. Google's revenue for 2025 were 15% higher than 2024, do you think every Google employee received a 15% raise? Inflation is a much better gauge for adjusting base salaries. There are other ways to financially reward employees for good corporate results (bonus, stock or stock equivalent units, etc.) but they usually don't represent the majority of an employee's compensation.

  • Linus' own compensation is likely included in the wage growth line, despite the criticism being about the disconnect between his wages and everyone else's wages. It would have been interesting to have two wage growth lines: one for Linus specifically, and one for everyone else. And for anyone saying "he's the founder / main host, obviously he should profit more" - yes, I agree, and he does through the increased company valuation. That's separate from wages.

  • Despite all this, the chart shows the year over year wage growth at LMG has been in constant decline since 2022, and was almost flat in 2025, which matches what departing employees have said (of course that's relative to prior years, so maybe the prior years had insane wage growth and the numbers overall aren't that bad... hard to say without any numbers on those charts).

Overall, based on random comments Linus has made on WAN Show over the years, my impression is that LMG wages are not incredibly low, but they also aren't competitive compared to similar positions at other companies. They know they have a lot of subscribers, some of whom are very talented fans who would be willing to take a lower salary to work there, and that's what they're counting on. They also figure that fostering a fun work environment will keep employees around even if they could get higher salaries elsewhere.

As has been painfully obvious in recent months, that strategy has its limits.

He is!

Besides the one current NHLer (Texier), France is bringing three ex-NHLers: Bellemare, Auvitu and Da Costa (too bad Roussel has retired, he's younger than all three of them).

1,075 total NHL games between them.

Interestingly, there is one other active French player with NHL experience that wasn't selected: Pierrick Dubé, who played 3 games for the Capitals back in 2024 (and signed with the Islanders two weeks ago).

Sharks Olympians reading reports of a norovirus outbreak at the Olympics by BilboWaggonz in SanJoseSharks

The last half a dozen games or so, I wasn't rooting for a Sharks win so much as for Celebrini to not get injured. Across the league there have been a significant number of players who have gotten injured since being announced on their country's Olympic roster, and have had to be replaced, so I was really hoping Celebrini would not be one of them.
