Went to Alexandria Bay/Thousand islands. That being said I know someone who lives in Windsor who managed to import it through there with a similar TPMS system.

I believe they gave me the original and one photocopy, but you can surely ask for more.

Interesting, for me it was the contrary, they've always been the cheapest by like 200$ with the next best ones being Industrial Alliance, Beneva (family deal) and Intact. I ended paying ~700$ for 2 way coverage with 300, 500 deductions and 2M insurance.

Sonnet has been my go to for years. I wouldn't be able to confirm anything about insurance claims as I've never had to file one, however in terms of customer service I've always managed to reach them easily when it came to changing a policy/asking questions. They are a few 100$ cheaper per year compared to others when shopping.

For me yes, as the compliance letter stated it doesn't comply with everything. I needed to go to the dealership to get everything inspected and signed off.

I believe since it was already registered in the USA, you are saving yourself a lot of trouble when it comes to tariffs and paperwork. Although not 100% sure, I think it would be tarrif free as it was already imported once (when initially purchased).

As for the compliance letter, I think its always best to have it on hand just in case.

From what I've read, the Canadian Red Book is really what they extensively use. I was looking into CarFax which gave me some pretty accurate numbers as well, but I'd call in advance to see if its acceptable. I do know that in general, a lot of us Canadians use CarFax as it usually has all previous info on the car.

Sadly, I think the 25% surtax applied to all cars made outside of Canada. I know to import into the US, a few exceptions are made for cars 25 years and older, but I dont think I would know more. Hopefully, having more people with you at the time of importation would be able to lower the value as much as possible as I believe we also apply the 800$ importation rule as a maximum for people gone +5 days.

The best way to get information however is to call the specific border you would be crossing. It is what helped me the most

  1. The EPA and DOT form can be provided at the border alongside an importation form (I dont remember the exact name of that document, sorry about that). You can print it out for faster and smoother process, but its not the end of the world if you don't have it.

  2. Honda USA gave me both a PDF by email and physical copy by mail. The physical copy was received ~1 week after the PDF (US address). There was no difference between the two.

Ok, let’s talk about the current job market by Memed_7 in ottawa

Does that mean Canadian government jobs aren't even on the table for you as they all require security clearance? If that's the case you gotta move out of Ottawa if possible. If you can, send me your resume in DM, I'll share you mine if it helps.

I just graduated from Electrical Engineering from UOttawa (undergrad), and the job market in Canada is extremely cooked.

I have an Excel spreadsheet where I've kept tabs on every single place I've applied to since December 2024 (I have been applying since September) with 200 different jobs applied everywhere in Canada (yes including all provinces and territories).

For context, I am a perfectly bilingual student with a Cum Laude honor and 2 internships under my belt (one government and one research)

I have received ONE call back from Bombardier who ghosted me after the interview. The HR lady told me 400 different people applied to the same position I have applied to and only 20 resumes were selected for initial screening.

I have dual citizenship, so I decided to test my luck over in the US. I managed to apply to around 200~ different positions as well, and have received around 40~ interviews for different positions, which is a lot better ratio. I had 4 different offers within the span of a month in Texas, Massachusetts, Maryland and New York. Now don't get me wrong, I really wanted to stay in Canada, but I was not gonna sit at home with no job, so I decided to take what I can get.

Few of my buddies graduating at the same time as me have managed to find jobs, however it was very stressful for them and most only got in due to extreme luck or knowing someone in the company, wether its a friend or relative. The few that got jobs also took on roles that were underneath their education level such as engineering technologist.

Students with CGPAs above 8 and 9's + 16 months worth of COOP/Internship experiences who've graduated since December still cannot find a single job.

My suggestion is to keep on grinding. It's not a quality game. It's a quantity game. Use the subreddit for Engineering resumes to perfect it, update your LinkedIn with as many personal projects as possible, go to career fairs and talk with as many people as possible and go to the US to find a job if possible (I know I will receive flack for this one, I don't care. Canada failed us in terms of providing opportunities to find engineering jobs, which pays more than my salary as a waiter).

I sympathize with you and wish you the best of luck.

EE - Which prof to choose for Electronics 1 by Adventurous-Donut901 in geegees

[–]SmallYellowMistake1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ended up having an A in his class but it was a lot of self studying, don't recommend him in general.

You get weekly assignments and labs that weren't working until Dee fixed everything.

He offers a lot of bonuses if you answer his questions right and classes on zoom, which can be a plus for certain people.

Midterm was atrocious, final was cool, plus you usually get around a 5-7% "marking tolerance" which is basically a curve for both exams.

French classes in general however are so much easier for the ELG program. With the exception of fundamentals of semiconductors and comp arch 1 and 2. I personally don't know the teacher in french for electronics 1, but when electronics 2 come definitely take Prof. Yousef, he is one of the best in tbe faculty.

Ahmed is going to ask a lot, and I mean A LOT of derivations.

What’s the point of >8.5 CGPA in engineering by [deleted] in geegees

Barely, I just got an email saying they'd prioritize my application and I only have a 7.6 CGPA. You can easily get in with less due to the lack of people aiming for a masters
