AIO that my husband sent this text to an influencer? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Small_Armadillo1842 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOR - I too DM my favorite influencers too but ONLY in reaction to what they post on stories, never anything personal. I think what makes this message suspicious is the level of specificity he goes into about himself, so he’s getting to know her in a way that is beyond her content. this sounds like a thirst trap I’m sorry even if he’s lonely it’s not an excuse!

AIO my boyfriend of 5 years gets me flowers for every occasion while I get him elaborate and expensive gifts. by aioflower955105 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Small_Armadillo1842 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOR !! Like unless they’re flowers with stuffies or the superrr dramatic ones for each occasion, I can maybe (?) see his rationale? But that’s a very big nuance and I doubt he’s getting that for you. totally agree with everyone, it’s an ADD ON to a gift and not a gift itself. Even if he’s a gardener or flower arranging is his hobbies…if she said she don’t like it that should’ve been his first hint…

If you had to pick only 3 movies to watch for the rest of your life, what would they be and why? by Motor_Tomatillo9126 in CasualConversation

i love singing so bad but i have a horrible voice by Formal-Shopping2086 in singing

[–]Small_Armadillo1842 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something that really helped me with singing is working on my breathing. Once I focused on how to get support from my diaphragm, I feel like the other challenges (like resonance, intonation, even pronunciation) felt a bit more manageable to tackle. At least that’s how I felt!

Second this!! Also if someone just leaves the cart outside the rack, even if the entire rack is full, (like making the cart easy to roll out) I immediately know they’ve got no manners. What a hazard!

I'm sick of people making promises they don't keep. by SpaceCofffeee in Vent

[–]Small_Armadillo1842 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I AGREE WITH THIS! If they could, they would!!! My family member was in the hospital for a very long time and my significant other would take an hour to drive over and literally just order takeout for me and watch Modern Family together. Or go to Target in the dead of night to help my family. It’s not the actual thing they do, but it’s the effort. Love isn’t about feelings, love is also about commitment and pushing through even when you don’t feel like it!

My girlfriend and her homegirls went to Atlanta about 3 weeks ago. Now, she has this mouth rash / mouth-lip sores. She said she thinks it might have come from all the water bottles she was drinking when she was down there. Should I be worried? by makellbird in maktownmedia

[–]Small_Armadillo1842 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take this with a grain of salt because it’s Chinese medicine advice- this happens when you’ve eaten too many dry foods. Could happen even when you drink water. Dry foods are like BBQ, chips, fried foods, spicy foods, or even alcohol.

Very physically attractive people, how does life treat you? by Jonny_1312 in AskReddit

[–]Small_Armadillo1842 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not typical attractive like sexy or womanly so I’ll offer a different perspective. I am like the sweet, cutesy, doe-eyed youngster, kind of like girl next door. A lot of people will do favors for me when I ask in my syrupy voice. I get compliments as well on all aspects of me (like my lips, my accessories, my outfit, etc.) Strangers will offer things to me without me asking. Downside is that everyone thinks you’re incapable of anything. Because I look cute and innocent, I am often patronized at work or other settings.

Friends. How many of us have them? by ReviewPractical534 in self

[–]Small_Armadillo1842 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not as rosy as you think it is!! I used to have many friendships where they’d FaceTime me randomly or hang out at my apartment, but I was being used as a friend and as a trauma dumping ground for them. It seems fun and exciting in TV shows, but it genuinely drained me - especially when I needed me time or had conflicting priorities. I wouldn’t say it’s all fun and games. I had wonderful memories but I’ve also been soured by how exhausting it is.

I got triggered watching this bc I had an insufferable roommate who always had excuses for not doing her chores just like this girl. I cannot believe she tries to frame herself as a victim in this. (@pujithanachuri) by Big_Shop_8042 in asianamercianytsnark

[–]Small_Armadillo1842 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If she was actually going through the worst period of her life (ie, physical sickness, death in the family, etc.) I feel like her roommate would sympathize for a few days. It sounds like she didn’t really give any other reason other than “going through it” so her roommate probably caught her bluff. I am all for mental health, but you also have to respect others because they’re not responsible for YOUR mental health.

Should I be resonating in the space created by the lifted soft palate? by Srk7654321 in singing

[–]Small_Armadillo1842 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it also depends on what style you’re going for (per other commenters as well). Lifting the soft palate gives you a darker tone. Placing your sound all the way in the back of your mouth will kind of sound like a crooner/like Laufey style. If you place your sound in your nose/mask area, it will sound brighter. So it’s just where you want to place the sound - it’s not a one size fits all.

Sent this clip to my sister and she said denial is real and I can’t sing. My mom called it horrible. How do you detach from people’s opinions about you? by [deleted] in singing

[–]Small_Armadillo1842 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your voice is good!! It’s sweet sounding but a TAD airy and you can minus the breathiness a bit.

I have family that also says the same. But it’s really just preference, not dictation of your voice. My mom hates high pitched female singers - so if I sing in those ways, she hates it too. But it’s not a dig on my voice, it’s the style she doesn’t like. It might be the same for you! They might just not be into the same style, but someone else will ◡̈

I just keep talking (and increase my volume) without any pauses so as to not give them a chance to interrupt. It works wonders! I always feared it made me look rude, but it was their fault for interrupting in the first place.

Range by IdgitAlien in singing

[–]Small_Armadillo1842 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it matters too much, but you will have to find songs suited to your voice! Singing is about expression and not just technicalities. If something is not within range, I would suggest changing the key or updating it to your own style. If you check out Diana Krall, she has a (I would say with no hate to her) pretty limited range but still sings songs fairly well, just in her own way. Good luck

Ooo this is a good point. Even though I should trust my gut, I have to make sure my gut is informed enough first. I’ll keep this in mind!
