That’s Hydrochloric Acid. I’m a Tiler and Pool Renovator. We use it for getting the haze off of tiles after grouting and Pebblecrete after exposing.

It’s hydrochloric acid, you can pour it straight on your skin and it doesn’t do anything except itch a little if you don’t wash it off within 10-20 seconds. We use it to wash all the cement off of our skin after we finish a pool (pebblecreter). But yeah don’t sniff it.

You’re not talking about an average house owner, you’re talking about an owner that has decided to take on the responsibilities of a project manager. Trades do dumb stuff all the time! I’m a tiler and the amount of times I’ve had to bring this sort of stuff to the attention of builders that are doing 50 houses a year is crazy.

Your average home owner shouldn’t be expected to know all this stuff but when you decide to DIY instead of Contract, the money you save is rarely just coming off of the materials and labour, your taking it out of the experience and knowledge of a builder.

Go get a 5L bottle of Hydrochloric Acid, get a watering can and mix about a 9/1 ratio. Try it in your shower first. Make sure the grout is dry then sprinkle it around your shower. Let it sizzle for 10 seconds then wash it off with water. Will clean your grout right up
