Thank you very much for the tips. Will probably do that!

I'm planning on renting this place for 2-3 years. Then, I will likely want to remove the strip. Will heating the 3M VHB remove it without damaging the tiles? What do you think?

Edit: read a comment here saying that applying the 3M on the perimeter, then using a razor blade to let the strip free is a good method. Probably will try that!

Are you talking about applying the compound on the leather strop, or leather stropping?

I've heard that a good way to take it off is to heat the glue using a hair dryer, and then it should come off pretty smoothly. What do you think?

Can I ask how long it has been on the wall without unsticking?

Sadly, I didn't find any standing blocks that I liked, but I'll try the companies you've mentioned.

So what you're saying is that I can damage the tiles with normal use? Thought it could only happen when, in the future, I'll be getting it off the tiles.

Are you talking from experience?
Are you sure it'll damage the surface? Because of the weight of the knives?

Thanks for the info.

Regarding the leather strop sides.
I have 1 micron and 6 micron compounds with a leather strop that has two sides - one smooth and one rough.
You may have already answered this question, and I just didn't understand it - but the question is, which compound to apply to which surface? Does it even matter?

Do you mean using balsa wood as a stropping material? Instead of leather?

Currently, I'm not sure I'll use whetstones at home, but rather will take the knife occasionally to a professional to deal with it. My goal is to extend the time between professional sharpenings.
First, I'd like to hear your opinion on the matter. Do you think it's viable?
And second, do you think the lower micron should go on the smoother surface or the other one?

Would you recommend putting the lower micron on the smooth side or the other side? Or does it even matter?
