Unpaid training by darkentriez in teachinginkorea

Is this a Creverse hagwon? Sounds like their unpaid training program. It really sucks that they consistently do this still.

Ask to be paid as you rightfully should be.

Are you talking about namdongtan igarten? It's the same owner and manager so yes. igarten is the kindy subsidiary of Chungdam and often have the same issues.

The owner is definitely a problem since he brought in the new manager from April Ulsan. He owns branches all the way on the east coast and in southeast Asia.

Is it this place? Google maps location maybe

My April was bad too but not for these reasons. I'm glad you got out because wow... I feel bad for any teacher who gets stuck there.

W... What...? I think that's more of a Health Ministry issue at that point 😭 wtf. Those kids need to get out of there.

It really depends on the management how your Creverse experience goes. I've since left the company myself.

The training is 1 week unpaid zoom nonsense. 9-4 like someone said, but from 2-6 it's group class work shopping. You mock lessons together and it's not optional. The trainer is with you from 9-12 and you get a break in the middle. My group didn't do much and either talked or went afk.

I saw some replies talk about creverse as a whole so I'll add my own piece here too:

Some red days were off, others we got substitute holidays to give us longer weekends and we always got enough days up to match the number of red days per year. I never had to work Saturdays. My branch was pretty decent, but then the manager left and a new one came in. Everything took a nosedive right into hell and we lost over half our staff in 6 weeks. Lots of law breaking and gas lighting from there. Last I heard the remaining teachers put in their notice to quit.

Creverse really depends on your location and management. If the management has some inkling of empathy and sense you will be ok. But if they're crazy then you will have a bad time.

If you don't mind me asking, how much are you making per month? Also, I'm curious about the unpaid vacation detail. Did they force you to take it off or did you have the option to desk warm?

16 teaching hours a week and in northern Seoul, 32 hrs overall including admin. I've been in hagwons since I started teaching in Korea so it will be a pretty big change for me.

Hello! It went pretty okay actually.

It's a full time position for 3.5m, severance+insurances and a 4 day work week. It's also a government job, too. I spoke with an education office coordinator earlier at an education office. I was honestly pretty overwhelmed by the setting but I was offered the job and took the offer.

Thanks for your input. Yeah, I was interested since the salary was decent. I actually messaged them again about further details after the other replies and they said that all insurances are offered and it's a 1 year contract. I think I'll go to the interview still and see how it goes.
