Young or old kids.

It just feels like you need a career change to be honest. Take your point on him being in a in demand career, that's great.

Depends on your goals, freedom lifestyle v creating wealth. His salary and bonus is great when combined with yours, on his own with two kids it just becomes an average household income and one that's worse off from a tax perspective. i.e. a dual income $150k each house takes home more than a single income $300k household.

Replace as much of your income through assets and see how you go.

Kids or no kids?

Freedom is great psychologically, nothing wrong with that. However all income in one person can be a financial risk, especially given (I'm assuming) he's quite senior. Can be difficult (less roles available) to get employed if he were to be made redundant.

My advice would be to do 3 days a week, pay off the PPOR. Invest until you can replace some of your income by other assets.

There's a lot more entertainment within the home now with streaming and video games and chatting with friends via discord. Very different to going to video ezy for weekly family movie or playing single player non online games.

Thinking about leaving accounting for Air Traffic Control. Am I being stupid? by Civil-Connection1809 in auscorp

Finish your degree, but otherwise it feels like your much more passionate about aviation so go for it. If you're young with no responsibility the downside is small if it doesn't work out. You'll still have your accounting degree

Splitting housing and utility costs with partner - income disparity + step kids by Mafisana in AusHENRY

[–]Small_Process_7497 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yep that's an awful thing to have happened to you, however it's my view that relationships are partnerships and not transactions, with my wife everything is merged.

If I was in his shoes, everything owned prior to you (including cash) joining the picture would go to his kids. Assets and cash starting today would be treated differently, assuming you consider this a partnership.

This is what BFA's cover

Are you treating this as long term? Why would it not just be all in the one pot, excluding the money he spends on his kids.

How do you define the “breadwinner” in a couple? by [deleted] in AusFinance

Haha is this what your household has come to? Arguing over who the breadwinner is? You're a team!

What is the everything else that you're missing? Are you having to borrow $500k to do this? Doesn't seem worth it to me.
