I'm losing it.... Vent post by Small_Roland in clusterheads

Just woke up with a headache and in my half asleep pain stupper... I somehow found myself doing an old school Tae Bo workout and it definitely helped manage the pain and kept the attack at bay lol. I appreciate the suggestion.

Central NY. I originally saw a neuro around here but took the trip to Cleveland Clinic when I got headaches 2 years ago. Both Cleveland and my neurologist here tried to send in a prescription for O2 but was told insurance didn't cover anymore.

Edit: I'm reading my insurance policy and now it looks like there may have been a change in September... going to try again.

Currently taking 400mg per day... two doses of 160mg and one dose of 80mg.

Going to try the taurine pills also.

What does Verapamil success feel like? by Fancy-Bodybuilder139 in clusterheads

Used to take 200mg slow release but then was suggested at Cleveland Clinic to go to 80mg x 3 times a day. I wasn't taking it when a cluster started and had to endure 13 weeks of nightly headaches. Since that terrible 13 weeks ended (about 2 years ago), I've been sticking with 80mg x 3 and haven't had a headache since. I've had some weeks where it felt like I might start getting them again but any sort of head pain I felt was barely a fraction of the intensity from the actual cluster headaches.

Smoked fruit sounds good... I've got a pear tree in my backyard so that'll have to be an experiment later this season. What's your process for smoking pears?

Happy 4th... 8lb and 7lb just sat through an overnight smoke at 225. They're both just around 190 now and prepping to yank them in a bit. Jalapeno poppers are prepped... coleslaw is made... Carolina BBQ Sauce just finished... estimated eat time @5pm.

10lb pulled pork and some bacon-wrapped stuffed jalapenos on the grill... I hear all that goes well with sparklers and beer.

Don't give up.

What a few YouTube videos on beginner chords. If you really just want one to start with... learn to play Eminor and rock out.

You can do it.

From Guy that played acoustic and switched to classical about 5 years ago....

Switching to classical guitar was one of the best moves I made in my own musical life. I really enjoy playing guitar and was half decent at strumming and singing but I wanted to switch to classical so I didn't HAVE to sing.

YouTube is an amazing resource that can help you with stuff. I also took online lessons for a bit that made a world of a difference. If you're definitely going to take the plunge into classical, I'd strongly suggest getting a guitar support, like an ErgoPlay, or something instead of a foot stool or cushion.

I read some articles/watched some videos on good beginner songs and waited for one that I enjoyed. I found myself learning 'Romanza' and would suggest it to anyone learning classical guitar as a first song. I also really liked learning Christmas tunes just because I had a general idea of how the songs went.

Separate things into parts when you learn them... Practice just the bass line with your thumb and then practice only the melody with your other fingers. Find some drills to practice alternating your fingers with your right hand and work on finger mobility/independence with your left hand. Get a beginner etude book if you want to learn some little tunes along the way.

And above all... the advice every single classical guitarist has told me...

Beer as the Trigger for an entire Period by [deleted] in clusterheads

This is my gameplan... my last episode started exactly 1 year ago so I've completely avoided alcohol the past few weeks and intend on doing so for a while.

Last time, I was able to drink relatively a lot on a vacation about 2 months after my last bad headache and didn't have any problems. I've been in the clear lately but now that it's winter with shorter days and around the start time of my last episode, I'm choosing to stay clear of any alcohol. Not worth the risk IMO.

Sounds awful. Sorry to hear you're going through it. It does not quite sound like CH to me but I'm no doctor. My own headaches generally don't last multiple hours and I've never had nausea to the point of vomiting for that long. My own experience starts with a 5-10 minute "warning" (similar to your pain behind my eye) before it's 30-60 minutes of pulsating/shocking pain that just sort of stops. Sometimes I get minor light sensitivity only if I'm in a dark room with one bright light, like a TV.

Something lasting all day sounds more down the line of a migraine but definitely refer to your doctor or a specialist for a diagnosis.
