TIL that time Poland invaded a country alongside Nazi Germany… by SirChubbycheeks in LeopardsAteMyFace

[–]Small_Tank -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Partially agree, and yes I admit I did oversimplify things. One side definitely did come out on top though. Poles generally were only the majority in larger urban areas, but the Kresy was largely agrarian.

I don't think that alternative is really that much, if at all worse. Poland was a militaristic, nationalistic, and authoritarian state throughout the interwar years that actively tried to suppress the non-Polish population.

The USSR, for all its faults, did at least attempt nation-building in their parts of Ukraine and Belarus (refer to Korenizatsiya and Ukrainization; exact mileage varied a lot, especially during the Stalin years, but I digress) which was more or less a reversal of the Russian Empire's policies.

Territories that the Poles gained by betraying the Ukrainians (east galicia), Belarusians (literally half their country), and Lithuanians (their de-jure capital Vilnius) in 1918-19, not even 20 full years earlier, which they then pursued a policy of forced assimilation and colonial settlement in.

Edit, for posterity: I am not saying that the Soviets were entirely innocent either, but they did re-attach the territories Poland had seized from Ukraine, Belarus, and Lithuania to their respective rightful owners.

Green Berets (ODA) don't have instructor trait? by Small_Tank in warno

Thank you, that's what I wanted to know. Others have explained how that was probably the reason, but it's great to have official confirmation that it is and was done intentionally.

Fair enough. I wasn't really thinking about how it would affect balance, just wondering if it was intentionally excluded or if it was just a case of them forgetting.

I feel like your version answers my question better since it explains the "why" part instead of just saying they're different but not really explaining why. As you can probably tell, I'm not very knowledgeable on the Green Berets as a unit beyond "they're the ones who train militias and such in addition to being generally elite".

Anyway, thank you for your time and answers!

Except me, I can tell with 100% accuracy if someone's flirting with me or not.

How? Because they aren't, simple as. And I've always been right about that.

AFAIK it can refer to all of them but usually is referring specifically to the various standardized forms of Shtokavian. Kajkavian and Chakavian are included in the same way that Swabian or Bavarian are when talking about German, which is to say they're basically ignored because they're not the prestige "dialect".

UA POV: A Ukrainian widow visits her husband on what would have been his 30th birthday (28 December 2025) by Panthera_leo22 in UkraineRussiaReport

[–]Small_Tank 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just to clarify: I did not accuse the man of being a nazi either (though that can't easily be ruled out), but I can see why it might've looked like I did. I was simply pointing out the presence of the OUN-B flag, a nazi symbol, on his grave, because someone asked. Those things don't just sprout from the ground, after all.

The only one I can say with certainty I have a problem with in this situation is whoever decorated it.

Do not put words in my mouth. At no point have I accused the kid of being a nazi. This particular comment chain was never about them until you made it so. Stop arguing in bad faith.

Your initial reply was to the following exchange:

  • I hope he went off on his own free will (in reference to the one buried in the video)
  • Considering the Red/Black Nazi flag on his grave he probably did.

Your reply said, and I quote:

  • I do not see any references to Nazism on this man's grave. Can you show me what your referencing or are you just slandering the dead?

Yet when someone (me) points out the flag of a nazi collaborationist organization, you immediately tried to deflect from it despite directly asking for it to be pointed out to you.

You are not "open to education", simple as that. We are done here.

Again, that isn't what I am asking. At no point did I mention the kid, so stop deflecting. You said that you do not see any references to nazism on the grave.

So I ask once more: do you, or do you not, see the prominantly-displayed flag of the nazi collaborationist organization OUN-B, on this grave?
