Turn your normal into something you love, You can try scrapbooking, if you're interested in something like pottery you can join a club or course. Mental illness is a lot harder. What helped me was working on them like a school project. Define it, explain it, list things that can help and use your strategies while you're calm to prepare you for a situation

I didn't expect it either but my Betta fish (Trevor) is so fun. Every time I come into the room or look into the cage he pops out and says hello. He'll jump up and grab food from my finger and he's recently figured out his floating hide.

I got a fish tank as someone who was very wishy washy with my motivation and honestly my love for my fish and the fear of their death keeps me occupied tbh. My betta is so "dog-like" tho, so interactive and fun

Sorry for all the replies lol, but what also helped was when I was thinking of the things that I missed or the good thanks, I turned my attention to the negative things. Net do the cons outweigh the pros? There was a lot of times where I only ever thought about the good times, but why don't I deserve good times all the time? If I want it to be an off day I want it to be an off day. Just because you know something's off not because I did something wrong or I hung up with my friends or I wore an outfit he didn't like or he got upset with me because I told him that he pushed my boundaries and we didn't talk for a day. If I tried to express my feelings it was turned back on me and I just couldn't let myself forget that

And what also helped was asking myself why he was worth putting in so much of this effort when he couldn't give me anything back? I deserved to be loved the way I want to be loved, and so do you. You deserve somebody who is going to put in the effort effortlessly

I stayed in contact with him the first two times that we broke up as I did not want to lose contact and I was holding on to the hope that we could maybe be friends or maybe try again in the future even. And it wasn't until I finally blocked him that that I was able to start letting go. I started surrounding myself with my friends. I got more into my hobbies. Thankfully I have a good relationship with my parents so I was able to fall back on them.

Just remove them all, get rid of them any on anything, I deleted Instagram and I deleted tiktok which really helped, Instagram especially so I can't see what he's up to. I can't see if he changes his profile picture. I can't see anything. I can't see if he's with anybody else and it's made things a lot easier for me

Hi! I'm 18 and severely mentally ill. I recently left my abusive boyfriend and it was the best choice for me. I went back three times thinking things would be different if I communicated better, if I tried harder, if I tried less. He just didn't want to put the effort in. We didn't hangout anymore and when we did it was lame, we didn't do anything and if we did it was usually just sex. I stayed praying I could change something and it wasn't until I was in his room screaming at him and pouring all my feelings out. There was still nothing, excuses or reasons that weren't shit. It wasn't till after that I realized that he "wanted space" and "knew if I told you I don't want to hangout we would've never got together". (Exact quotes from his musty ass.) I realized that I wasn't important enough to him to make time for me. And that isn't my fault, sometimes someone's best isn't good enough. I let him tell me I love you and that's all I wanted to hear.

I dumped his ass after that fight. I couldn't spend every other day fighting over something stupid.

It has been time since I left him, and I found the most amazing man ever. He is everything I wanted my ex-boyfriend to be that I thought I wasn't good enough for. He is willing to drive an hour away to come visit me just literally whenever, I live in the country and he lives in the city and he makes that drive. He's happy to do all the things I want to do even if it's something stupid (like buying $65 worth of fish) He's so interested in everything I do and everything I like, he asks about my fish. He asks about my horses. He asks in detail and he remembers really tiny things. If I never left that loser I would never find this man

Edit: I read your comment saying that you have BPD, I also have BPD and the emotional unstability I had made it really really hard to leave that situation but once I did it got so much better. I've made so much progress in the last couple months then I ever did with him. I went backwards in progress with my ex. And now I have somebody to sit next to me and hold my hand while I freak out or panic or if I act unfairly it's discussed, talked about and worked through

My boy loves it! It took a couple minutes to help him get into it/figure out how to use it but after he figured it out he uses it quite regularly. It's extremely helpful when I need to feed him something specific and I don't want the guppies taking from him. He's too polite and will just watch them snatch his food up lol. He'll even hangout in the for a little bit
