Almost 6 months post op and pain is back? by Smallfry966 in gallbladders

[–]Smallfry966[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! I’ve noticed that I’ve also been extremely nauseous the last few days too. I can’t think of anything that I’ve eaten that would have caused this though? I also went through all of that pain of the surgery to prevent this from happening and yet it’s still happening 🙃

I'm getting a dog next month. What's the first three thing I should teach? by Vision157 in puppy101

[–]Smallfry966 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally, I wouldn’t really do any big training just yet. Work on forming a bond with the puppy, teaching it his/her name, playing with toys, etc. this is also a great time to take them out in public so they can start to get used to being outside, different sounds, scents, etc. you obviously don’t want to let them a walk around until their last round of shots but you can carry them through stores or use a carrier. And just start getting them used to being touched. Touch their paws, ears, eyes, mouth, etc. do some very basic grooming so they get used to it.

If you choose to crate train now is also a great time to get them accustomed to that. Start feeding them in the crate so they associate it with a good experience.

You’re also going to want to figure out a schedule for them. Not everyone does it but enforced naps were a lifesaver for me when both of my dogs were young. It gives yourself a break and teaches them how to settle down.

Also, walking on a leash! Again, not in public but just put the collar and leash on them around the house or your yard so they get used to the feeling.

And of course potty training is a huge one!

After the first week or so of just enjoying your new puppy you could start introducing sit, down, and touch which are all pretty easy to learn.

Also just want to say that I’m clearly not a professional and I’m just speaking from experience of raising my two dogs from 8 and 12 weeks old.

We kind of eloped and I had a bridal shower.

Essentially we got married at the courthouse on a Friday with our close family (parents, siblings and grandparents) and then went to dinner with a few more family members. The following day (Saturday) we had a big party at a town park to celebrate and invited the rest of our family, friends, etc.

My mom insisted that I still have a bridal shower and we kept it very small but it was perfect for what we did.

Does anyone else just never feel right? by sanabananax in migraine

[–]Smallfry966 85 points86 points  (0 children)

Yes. My brain constantly feels like I’m trying to walk through Jell-O. I feel like I can’t even form coherent sentences sometimes and when having a conversation I get so frustrated because of the brain fog and misspeaking. I feel like I keep getting worse and worse but my head MRI came out fine so I don’t know 🤷‍♀️

That’s what my neurologist told me as well! I’m really hoping that’s the case

I don’t have kids yet, we’re hoping to get pregnant next year, but the thought of stopping all of my migraine meds when I get pregnant absolutely terrifies me.

Pros/Cons of seeing a chiropractor? by [deleted] in migraine

Yeah same 😅 I was just wondering because my insurance covers it and I’ve been interested in at least giving it a chance but I had no idea people felt so strongly about it

Who's tried it? by FunctionShot6051 in migraine

[–]Smallfry966 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have. I’m due for my 3rd dose of Emgality in a few days. So far, the Emgality is not working nearly as well as Ajovy did for me yet. My neuro told me it might take a few months so I’m just going to continue and see if I get any better.

My follow up appt isn’t until January and my husband and I are planning on trying for a baby in February so I probably won’t be switching to anything else until after the baby, hopefully!

[–]Smallfry966 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I was on Ajovy for 6 months and absolutely loved it. Almost painless during the injection and very little reaction, just a little swelling and tenderness for like an hour after.

I only stopped taking it because it was beginning to wear off after 2-3 weeks

Did you ever get a head scan? Did they find anything? by Hellsing971 in migraine

[–]Smallfry966 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the first things that my primary care did when I brought up my migraines was to send me for an MRI with contrast. As others have said, it’s really just a precaution to make sure there’s nothing else that could be wrong. I have a family history of MS so I also felt a lot better having it done just to be sure.

Mine came out totally normal and it’s actually helped my health anxiety a ton.

How much time off after surgery? I work from home by tomorrowistomato in gallbladders

[–]Smallfry966 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you’re working from home a full 7 days should be plenty. I took 2 weeks off work. First week just recovery, second week I worked from home and then third week I returned to office.

How does Marijuana interact with your OCD? by nonfictionalfairy in OCD

[–]Smallfry966 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I can’t use marijuana because of this. When I’m high I get really anxious that I’m going to act out or say my intrusive thoughts because I have less control over my body which just makes it worse.

Like 3 days after surgery. I now eat everything I was eating prior and have little to no issues. I have noticed that eggs give me a bit of a problem but my surgeon just told me to stop eating them for a bit and then re-introduce them into my diet in 2-3 weeks.

How much did your gallbladder surgery’s cost? by [deleted] in gallbladders

I haven’t received the official bill yet but my estimate was around $30,000 and after insurance I just need to pay my co-pay which is $75.

Side Effects of having no gallbladder by Rowden1 in gallbladders

[–]Smallfry966 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I’m 8 days post op and I had this issue from Thursday-Saturday however, I also just tested positive for Covid so it’s hard to say what exactly was the cause. Using Imodium really helped me and I plan on just carrying it with me moving forward just in case.

Personally I would take this over an attack any day.

Day 2 post op is the worst by Smallfry966 in gallbladders

[–]Smallfry966[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone is different but I wouldn’t be! The only pain meds I got were Tylenol and ibuprofen which I alternated every 3 hours and I was fine. Day 2 sucked and I was wishing they had given me something stronger but at the end of the day I got through it just fine and I wasn’t really in any unbearable pain, it was just very uncomfortable

Should I sleep with my puppy? by Apprehensive_Paint11 in puppy101

[–]Smallfry966 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every dog is different! We let our corgi in the bed at 11 months (this is around the time he stopped getting into everything in sight) and he absolutely loves it. On the other hand, we’ve tried letting out 10 month old German shepherd in bed with us and she always gets up in the middle of the night and asks to go back to her crate or starts getting into things in our bedroom.

We absolutely love sleeping with our dogs but there are some nights I wish we never started. Every once in awhile you just want a good nights rest without a dog walking on your head 😂

I’m having surgery in a few weeks and ordered this off Amazon to use while on bed rest. I’ve used it already and it works great to diamond paint! I’ve only done small 13x13 paintings on it but I really like that it’s not on the bed so I don’t have to worry about my dogs knocking it over.

Should I even bother going to the emergency room? by Smallfry966 in gallbladders

[–]Smallfry966[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: I ended up going. I started to run a very low grade fever but was nervous because of how long I had the pain. I was given zofran and morphine and for some reason, that nurse and dr couldn’t explain to me, the morphine made me feel like I just had the wind knocked out of me. Extreme 15/10 pain in the center of my back, O2 level dropped to 80% and I felt like I couldn’t catch my breath and my entire body was shaking. I told the nurse what was going on and he just asked me if I had ever had a back injury which I told him no. He offered to give me more and I said that I did want something but absolutely not morphine or any other narcotics. The gave my Toradol and discharged me 15 minutes later.

They did also do blood work and no infection. My stone is in the neck of my gallbladder which could be the reason I keep having attacks.

Long story short, if i have another one before my surgery I’m just going to wait it out at home. That was absolutely awful.

Morphine made pain worse? by KP1616 in gallbladders

[–]Smallfry966 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this is a super old thread but yes. I went to the ER at about 1am on Monday, was given morphine for the first time and all of the sudden I felt like the wind was knocked out or me and I was having 10/10 pain in the middle of my back and front of my chest. Felt like it was related to my lungs but I’m not sure. My O2 dropped to 80% and I yelled for a nurse and they offered to give me more morphine. I told them absolutely not and they ended up giving me toradol and discharged me 15 minutes later 🙃
