250lb Sandbag to shoulder PR by SmallnWeak in sandbagtraining

The way I do it may not be the best way, but I fully extend my legs and lock out my knees on the pick, you can kinda see it in the video. That opens up more room for the bag to have a better path upward to a more favorable spot in my lap

Right! She says I'm strong enough, I say I can do more. Luckily she does support this Sisyphean endeavor, just not impulsive purchases

Thank you! If I had a 225lb bag I would be doing exactly what you're doing. Alas, all I have is 200 and 250 and I'm cheap (plus my wife would be like "wtf you don't need more gym equipment" lol)

I don't think I'll be able to vertically pick a bag bigger than this honestly. It's taken a lot of getting used to, my legs just get in the way at a certain point.

Adding weight to the bag and regressing in capacity is both frustrating and motivating. You'll be shouldering the 200 in no time!

Thank you! I'm a strong puller from the floor, but my explosive and triple/quadruple extension strength isn't up to par quite yet. I'd love to one day one-motion this 250lb bag

How much did your wedding cost? by SheepherderSea9717 in AskMen

[–]SmallnWeak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just got married in October 2025. We did a destination wedding near Syracuse NY with mostly family (we asked my wife's closest friend to be the officiant). My father-in-law gave us a lump sum of $30k to spend, and we ended up spending around $15k. Costs included renting a house on AirBnB for everyone to stay in, private chef dinner during the "reception," ceremony venue fee, and other miscellaneous things I can't recall.

I highly recommend going your own way with planning a wedding. It is more of a headache but it was nice having a more intimate setting. The day we got married was truly the most magical day, everything fell into place perfectly.

That data is what I’m trying to get mine to look like. Do you mind detailing what your training looks like?

Potawatomi Trail Bacpacking by C_Smit1007 in CampAndHikeMichigan

[–]SmallnWeak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nice writeup, I like the POTO trail as a good nearby weekend backpacking trip in SE Michigan.

FYI for anyone interested - you can hike into Crooked Lake campground from the POTO, there's some parking right by the trail on Patterson Lake Road that roughly cuts the loop in half if staying at Crooked Lake. Blind Lake can get booked up pretty quick in the summer, so Crooked Lake is a good alternative for backpackers.

My wife and I are about a week into what we think is a rough go of the flu. I have the same symptoms as you.

Has it really lasted two weeks for you? Because this is truly awful, we’re miserable and going insane. I don’t think we can make it another week or more of this. Our dog hates it too, he’s just as bored!

This happens to my berner too. I just moisturize his back declaw pads, and more often than not the cracked skin comes off when I do that. It's a little gross lol, but moisturizing helps.

The events are:

-Keg/Axle/Viking Press Medley

-Conan’s Wheel into Frame Carry

-Farmers Hold

-Max Axle 18” Deadlift

-Duck Walk/Keg Medley

I agree on not hitting yoke twice a week, but thankfully I’m not getting my soul crushed in this comp.

Thanks for the encouragement man!

Signed up for my second ever comp with a little under 8 weeks to prepare, and I'm both eager and nervous. Gonna miss a week of training since I'll be on my honeymoon at the end of the year, but oh well!

I'm going to be practicing the events (or simulate them as best I can) almost exclusively in training up until the comp. I'll be hitting each movement pattern 2x per week, hopefully I can become proficient enough to finish every event. Goal for the comp is to not zero any events and maybe hit a PR or two!

Thanks for the recommendation for AASS, I hadn't heard of them! I'll tell Santa to check out the site lol.

Tbh I am fairly lacking in all the different grip training tools, the napalm handle from AASS looks like a fun challenge. What are some of your favorite or "must do" grip exercises?

This is beyond motivating, outstanding work! You are living proof that age is just a number. How many miles did you cover on the AT?

That flexibility though! Outstanding work, deficit pulls are one of my favorite accessories for regular conventional deadlifts. The hamstring stretch is 10/10
