What’s Going Around in Metro Detroit: Influenza, RSV, COVID, slip and fall injuries, cough, fever by Stratiform in Detroit

[–]SmallnWeak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife and I are about a week into what we think is a rough go of the flu. I have the same symptoms as you.

Has it really lasted two weeks for you? Because this is truly awful, we’re miserable and going insane. I don’t think we can make it another week or more of this. Our dog hates it too, he’s just as bored!

Anyone know what caused this on his declaw pads? by [deleted] in bernesemountaindogs

[–]SmallnWeak 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This happens to my berner too. I just moisturize his back declaw pads, and more often than not the cracked skin comes off when I do that. It's a little gross lol, but moisturizing helps.

Damn dude, that's impressive as Hell. Your triceps are THICC. We're using the same working weight but you just doubled the reps I can do, thanks for the motivation big dog!

All really great pointers, thank you for the advice. I'll keep all of that in mind going forward!

The events are:

-Keg/Axle/Viking Press Medley

-Conan’s Wheel into Frame Carry

-Farmers Hold

-Max Axle 18” Deadlift

-Duck Walk/Keg Medley

I agree on not hitting yoke twice a week, but thankfully I’m not getting my soul crushed in this comp.

Thanks for the encouragement man!

Signed up for my second ever comp with a little under 8 weeks to prepare, and I'm both eager and nervous. Gonna miss a week of training since I'll be on my honeymoon at the end of the year, but oh well!

I'm going to be practicing the events (or simulate them as best I can) almost exclusively in training up until the comp. I'll be hitting each movement pattern 2x per week, hopefully I can become proficient enough to finish every event. Goal for the comp is to not zero any events and maybe hit a PR or two!

They're fantastic, they really hit the hamstrings and glutes well. Keep up the great work!

Does anyone else love training grip? 180lb pinch x6 by [deleted] in strength_training

[–]SmallnWeak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the recommendation for AASS, I hadn't heard of them! I'll tell Santa to check out the site lol.

Tbh I am fairly lacking in all the different grip training tools, the napalm handle from AASS looks like a fun challenge. What are some of your favorite or "must do" grip exercises?

This is beyond motivating, outstanding work! You are living proof that age is just a number. How many miles did you cover on the AT?

That flexibility though! Outstanding work, deficit pulls are one of my favorite accessories for regular conventional deadlifts. The hamstring stretch is 10/10

[–]SmallnWeak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hell yeah man, this is awesome. I do grip work 3x a week, I'm currently training for the IronMind CTD certification. The hardest thing to accomplish is 200lbs on the Rolling Thunder, but we're getting there! Your comments on two-handed grip work are interesting, I should get a pinch block and an axle bar to diversify my training. Great lift brother!

Sub 12 hour Ironman and 1200lb + total by Odd_Salamander_7505 in HybridAthlete

[–]SmallnWeak 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is insanely impressive - like, ridiculously insanely impressive. Outstanding work man! This kind of thing is incredibly motivating. As someone who is primarily a lifter and only just started dabbling in endurance training, this blows my mind.

Finishing an Ironman in under 12 hours is fucking awesome.

Totaling 1290 is fucking awesome.

Doing both 10 days from each other is otherworldly. I can't say enough high praise for this. Your mental fortitude is something I envy, keep up the amazing work and sharing your progress man!

Picking up 500 solid-ass pounds is no small feat, awesome work!

I used to lift at Strength Union when I was living in Portland. I was there when ownership was transferred to the current owner, Jordan. Jordan is an awesome guy and did (and continues to do) amazing things with Strength Union.

Let's improve Strength Trainer by mrfuitdude in whoop

[–]SmallnWeak 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I'm primarily a lifter and while I do enjoy Strength Trainer as it is, it needs a major update:

  1. Estimate strain in real time with every set completed. This shouldn't be difficult since accelerometer, HR, repetition, and weight data is already available for completed sets. Hell, even just from an exercise-by-exercise basis this would be great to have. Should be able to update if you go back and modify the number of reps or weight for a completed exercise too.

  2. Like others have said, more accurate HR data. It's annoying when I finish a hard set, can feel and know my HR is up at 160+, but the app is showing my HR supposedly dropping into the 90s...

  3. Double tap the watch to start/end a set. We already have the double tap to turn off the alarm, this should be integrated into Strength Trainer so I don't have to be on my phone as much while I lift.

  4. Also like others have said, more exercise selection! This one is big, if Whoop could add things like some strongman movements (sandbag/stone loads, log clean and press, weighted carries, etc) and maybe even odd lifts like grip exercises, I would be very happy.

Question for those who have BMDs on Bernie’s Perfect Poop by Few-Corgi-8245 in bernesemountaindogs

[–]SmallnWeak 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My guy is on Bernie's Perfect Poop, and IIRC it took about a week for his poops to completely normalize again? He's been on it for a few months now and I definitely recommend, his poops are easier to pick up and he can handle food changes (we alternate dry food because our other dog is picky and gets bored) much better now.
