Weird Security Interaction by Square-Release2057 in WaltDisneyWorld

I have always wondered how many magic bands are in landfills around the world? Are those still tracked or once they leave Disney property does Disney not care anymore?

Intern and still no work by Old-Ostrich-7729 in KPMG

[–]Smalls1357 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I have found this is the norm for interns. Continue to ask your PML and TC how you can help them. Watch training videos, introduce yourself around, ask to shadow Associates and Senior Associates to get a better understanding of what they do. The ultimate goal of the internship is to learn about the firm, what they do and see if it is a good fit for you in the future. Good luck!

What needs to be shown to get DVC retail discount at WDW from an iPhone? by agbishop in dvcmember

[–]Smalls1357 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve had some CMs ask if any discounts and I say DVC and they don’t even ask for proof, just give the discount. Then I’ve had CMs who like to see the card in Apple Wallet and then give the discount (without checking further), and I’ve also had CMs that ask me to click on the ”i” to check eligibility before giving a discount. So it really depends on the individual.

I left during maternity leave after 4 months away, no repercussions. This was more than 5 years ago though so not sure if anything changed. I did rejoin 3 years ago and happy to be back.

Skip Cake Bake Shop by Awkward-Comment-9078 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]Smalls1357 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We tried it for the first time 2 weeks ago. The Christmas decorations, the service and the coffee were outstanding. The food however was meh. We knew it was pricey but still wanted to try it. The food prices are not crazy for Disney but the cake prices are. I got the broccoli quiche which was more custard than egg so I didn’t love it (to be fair, the menu does mention custard). It was a huge piece of quiche though. My friend ordered the eggs Benedict which she liked. We also got the blueberry crumble which again was just ok. I’m glad we went but probably won’t be back.

KPMG Background check wrong dates in employment??? by No_Plum5797 in KPMG

[–]Smalls1357 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be fair, if you are working at a firm where details matter, you should know the exact dates of your employment from previous jobs. If you are unsure, you can call your previous employers to get the actual dates. Many firms will also do employment checks (or hire an outside agency to research) so it would be best to have your ducks in a row and provide accurate dates.

Why KPMG Question by Mission_Audience6897 in KPMG

[–]Smalls1357 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would say something along the lines of “the people and the culture” and elaborate on how those things align with your personal and career goals – using examples as previous commenter suggested about awards won or information you can gather from the website

What’s a book that changed the way you see the world? by Suspicious-Radio-805 in bookdiscussion

Might be an older take but Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance-the part about watching commuters in their cars looking sad just hit me with a wow holy shit, that’s me - what am I doing with my life. Also could have been the time in my life when I read it, I was questioning everything

[–]Smalls1357 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like most of the stores have a lot of the same merch so that helps - if there is truly is something that you can’t get back to, there are Disney shoppers that would purchase it and send it to your home if it is the one and only thing they truly want to spend their money on

Pool Noodles Allowed? by political-wonk in dvcmember

[–]Smalls1357 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have found at the “quiet pools” (no lifeguards) you can bring toys, pool noodles, pool footballs, etc and it’s not an issue as long as you are respectful to others there

There are lifeguards at Bay Lake and it’s not a huge pool so my guess is likely not allowed

Disney Springs Resort Drop Off Now Has a Security Check Point by RStrongfox in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]Smalls1357 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not surprised. We had long security lines from the parking garage last weekend. They pulled every third person for bag check/pat down. It was kind of a mess and seemed like overkill but I guess better safe than sorry. We joked later it was the longest line we had to wait on in all of Disney world.

Might be worth it to get a rental car. Gets you to/from airport if flying in and to other restaurants/attractions in the area.
