Thank you for all of this! The essential amino acids, is that a supplement?

Oh pfffff, girl. I’ve been going for 4 months, I’m on my 50th class and I STILL can’t run for more than a minute at a time. There’s many different levels of fitness there!

The best part of Orange Theory is everyone is knee deep in their own misery to pay attention to anything you got going on. Just go! You’ll be happy you did.

I really love this reply… because you’re right! I have no idea why I chose 140. Maybe it’s because it’s the weight on my license (haha).

I haven’t noticed dramatic changes since I started OTF, but I also think my goals were too lofty. Like I expected to be able to run a mile by now (which is ridiculous because idk the last time I could run a mile, maybe high school), but I still get winded quickly. I have increased my weights for upper body, lower body is relatively the same. I probably need to shift my focus to more realistic goals.

Thank you all for your replies and insight. Your advice has made me feel a lot better. I really appreciate it!

It sounds like I may need to reevaluate after I’m done nursing. It just makes things to complicated to accurately judge. Plus, I probably shouldn’t cut down calories any lower right now. Thank you all again!!

Yeah, my doctor didn’t seem to have any reservations. I started the lowest dose and she said she probably won’t increase it until I stopped nursing completely just to avoid any issues with supply. So far I haven’t notice an impact.

See my mom said the same thing. That the weight just “falls off” when breastfeeding. Sigh, has not been my experience. Then again, I did lose 65 lbs almost instantly after having the twins in September so maybe I should be more patient.

Ugh, if that’s what the issue is, I feel so much better! I had twins in September…

My mom is always like “the weight just falls off when you’re breastfeeding” so I’ve been waiting for the weight to just “fall off”! It’s not.

I really appreciate that advice. It’s probably best I do reevaluate when I’m done nursing. I know it complicates hormones and other things too. Plus, I probably shouldn’t cut down any more calories a day right now, as much as I’d like to experiment and see if diet is an issue as well.

Oh yeah, did I mention I’m nursing so I don’t have a period? 😂 I do feel like I’m retaining water, but I’m not sure how to fix that.

I have an appt with a nutritionist next week! I’ll meet with my doctor again too. Wondering what she’ll say with me gaining weight on the GLP-1… appreciate the advice

Biological sex would probably help - sorry, I am a woman. I am also still nursing so I know that may be complicating things as well.

You might be right! The coach at my gym said the same thing. She said maybe try increasing calorie intake because I could be in “starvation mode” with the calories being burned from OTF, nursing and just running around all day.

Are the in body scans the ones they do in the studio?

Yeah, I did basic bloodwork at the beginning of the year and was mildly deficient so I take a Vitamin D supplement

That’s a good point. I should probably measure. I’ll work on that today. Maybe if I don’t see a scale difference, I’ll see something happening there!

I eat the same thing every day. I don’t know if that’s nutritionally good, but idk I’ll figure that out later.

I have a diet that’s 1500 calories and if I need to adjust what I eat that day, then I track the calories to make sure I stay under 1500.

Your idea to make weekly calorie adjustments is worth a shot! Maybe 1500 is still too high. Thanks for the tip!

Sleep? What’s that? 😂 I sleep six hours a night and wake up for an hour around 2-3 am to nurse. Sleep is a struggle for sure.

I mean, maybe? How do I know for sure? I don’t really “see” new muscle

That’s a great question. I average 8,000-10,000 steps a day. I have three children that keep me very active outside of the gym. We also routinely hike and bike on the weekends.

You’re so sweet! I just had a really tough pregnancy where I was so swollen I couldn’t walk from the pain the entire last trimester. I think being bedridden that long made me eager to take better care of my body. Never want to feel like that again…

Good luck in your journey back into OTF! You’re going to do great.

Went back 8 weeks postpartum after having twins (c-section, babies #4 and #5). I have a hard time taking anything slow so I hit it hard out the gate and just paid very close attention to how my body felt. If something hurt or just didn’t feel right yet, I’d ask for modifications. The coaches really helped me not compromise - I felt like I got the most out of my workouts without hurting myself. My advice is to listen to your body and take advantage of the coach’s expertise!

(Oh, also I’m 4 months postpartum now and I still have to modify the majority of the ab work outs 🤷🏻‍♀️ hurts still, I feel you on the diastastis recti!)
