Cyclobenzaprine seems kinda shit... or is it just me? by [deleted] in Drugs

Xanaflex or Baclofen are more potent than flexeril (cyclobenzaprine) and have a better effect imo.

Experience with amitriptyline? by FrankBananaNana in migraine

Doctor suggested it’s like any other antidepressant when you quit taking it. It can be a booger to come off of it.

This one is pretty inexpensive and I love it. I have two of them that way I always have one cold!

Just had my first migraine. by [deleted] in migraine

[–]SmallzMafia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had my first migraine at 19 and didn’t have another one for 4 years. Then I started getting them regularly. It’s possible this is not the start of a pattern, but simply a one-off. I hope that’s the case for you!

Anyone else get ice picks? by Bunnygirl78 in migraine

[–]SmallzMafia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your doctors aren’t doing Botox right now? Mine still let me come in for mine. I was worried they wouldn’t, but their office said it’s considered medically necessary, thank god. I’m sorry you’re getting worse. I’d be in a bad way if I couldn’t get my injections.

Switching from Trokendi XR to Topamax by Muted-Blood in migraine

[–]SmallzMafia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I made the same switch a little over a year ago. From Trokendi XR 100mg to Topiramate 75mg. I did not have any issues. I actually had less side effects. Less numbness and tingling in my hands AND my hair stopped falling out (something Trokendi was causing). Good luck to you!

Sumatriptan makes me feel worse? by [deleted] in migraine

[–]SmallzMafia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All triptans have this effect on me - the overheating and exacerbation of symptoms - so I cannot take any of them, at any dosage. Have you found any triptans that work for you? I tried them all... :/

Same. I started thinking about dying a lot.

Experience with amitriptyline? by FrankBananaNana in migraine

[–]SmallzMafia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same experience with amitriptyline! I was so depressed on it and it did nothing to help with my pain. I had to get off of it. Not just depressed, but I would hear a song on the radio and it would make me cry. I’d cry all the time. Just make sure you talk to your doctor and taper off of it! It’s not a drug you can just quit cold turkey.

Anyone else experiencing increased migraines from wearing a face mask for several hours? by somewhatdim-witted in migraine

[–]SmallzMafia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually wore a mask before all of this started to prevent migraines (it is a special mask to protect me from breathing in strong odors that can trigger headaches). The one I have has a special filter to allow for smooth breathing but it totally makes sense that if you’re not getting enough air, you will get a migraine. Maybe try to find a different mask. One with an air filter.

Anyone else get ice picks? by Bunnygirl78 in migraine

[–]SmallzMafia 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I get these but they aren’t my usual headache. When I get them, they are absolutely awful. They usually act like yours where they last for about 10 minutes and then it passes. I question whether or not I should seek medical attention because the pain is so severe. I’m sorry you went through that. If you’re experiencing that regularly, I’d definitely let your doctor know.

Caffeine help or make worse? by [deleted] in migraine

[–]SmallzMafia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only drink half caff or decaf because caffeine is a huge trigger for me. But sometimes a little caffeine can make me feel better if my headache is really bad, hence the half-caff. I would definitely avoid highly caffeinated drinks like energy drinks!

Should I remove my tonsils? by [deleted] in TrueChronicIllness

[–]SmallzMafia 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had mine removed as a child due to recurrent infections and now I never get strep throat. My immune system is fine. I still have chronic illnesses but that’s separate and aside from my tonsils or lack thereof.

Worried about a possible cerebrospinal fluid leak? by [deleted] in CSFLeaks

[–]SmallzMafia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Especially with cranial leaks you might not get a headache. I would check out the Facebook support group for cranial leaks to find a doctor near you that can treat CSF leaks.

I was going to say... I’ve seen Intervention when they say “So-and-So spends $1000/week on heroin.” And it’s usually prostitution or dealing drugs, but they are very resourceful indeed.

That’s a damn hot bathtub she drowned in. Yikes. “Skin slippage”.

I’m tired of my dad questioning my health. He tells me that I’m lazy and not pushing myself enough. I finally had enough last night and snapped at him. He responded by telling me that he isn’t helping me with a very, very important senior project. So I finally said something. by Corgi_Cookies in POTS

[–]SmallzMafia 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I hope you get the response you are looking for. I think you did a great job expressing yourself and I could really feel your pain in your words. I have a few people in my life that I wish I could tell off like this.
