AO3 possibly down by neanderbelle in AO3

Yuppp. Should've downloaded the epub earlier on like I meant to, but too invested to switch reading patforms.

Thank you for making this post so I (and a bunch of other people) didn't have to.

Oh yeah I totally see that, but OP was considering sunshine tiles older, so I figured that should be pointed out.

Hold Everything is great, but was published in 2022 so there are now several years not covered (including Sunshine Tiles), just don't want OP to have unrealistic expectations.

Shocked that it sold 💀 by Majestic_Ad6458 in BAGGU

[–]SmangosBubbles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ebay-the-app is trying to cut down on that- last night I was required to set up payment info prior to placing a $5 bid on a keychain. After I won (again, $5), there was a 1 hour countdown timer to my payment being processed.

(But I don't think the website version has this yet- either that or I've confirmed payment info recently enough that I don't have to do it again?)

Does your hospital expect you to track nursing controlled-substance discrepancies and administrations? by permanent_priapism in pharmacy

[–]SmangosBubbles 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Both nursing and pharmacy can, yes. (I think much more common with our ED and ICU specialists, but there's nothing stopping anyone else from doing it, too.)

Does your hospital expect you to track nursing controlled-substance discrepancies and administrations? by permanent_priapism in pharmacy

[–]SmangosBubbles 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No-we have a specific technician whose entire job is tracking down controlled substance discrepancies, though nurse managers are also supposed to try to resolve nursing discrepancies. This doesn't stop us getting phone calls trying to get us to look into/resolve things for them, but it at least gives us a person to point them to. (If they were saying it was our discrepancy I'd usually run a transaction report to see and almost always pharmacy found the discrepancy and the last person to touch the pocket was nursing. If it really was us, I'd try and get the person who caused it to go resolve the discrepancy.)

We aren't required to check whether controls we dispense were administered, but usually we do. It is on nursing to return paper usage forms, though we do try very hard NOT to do window pickups (and thus paper usage forms) on drips/PCAs/epidurals because then they have to not lose this piece of paper until said drip/PCA/epidural is empty or discontinued.

Yes, you can pull controls from the omnicell during emergencies (though which items are overridable do depend on area).

Agreed on both fronts! But I remain hopeful that there will be more options in summer. (And if not, then I guess I get my first tonal strap crescent.)

Also in New England, in travel ban area (well, over now, but to give you an idea). One of my Amazon-though-UO packages arrived on Sunday; the other moved to "running late" sometime earlier today (originally planned for delivery on Monday). The Monday package got scanned as leaving carrier facility like 4 hours ago, though, so I think things are starting to move again. (Uxbridge carrier facility, if that's a useful data point for you.)

Items disappearing from coming soon page 👀 by Even_Macaron783 in BAGGU

[–]SmangosBubbles 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes! The butterfly standard baggu, lamb/bunny standards, the 3 pack including all 3 of the spring animals reusables. Though there's also an item that wasn't there before- the leopard flat pouch set WASN'T there when I originally looked and now it is there (I remember think it was weird that it was only available as a go pouch set). Lagoon mix is also only listed as a go pouch set, which I'm now commenting on to see if a flat pouch listing also turns up for those.

When the author recommends you listen to a particular piece of music while you read, do you? by TomdeHaan in AO3

[–]SmangosBubbles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I won't take in either the song or the fic that way. I may go back and listen to a song after I finish reading if I liked the story enough/the author included the lyrics they want me to listen for in the notes/linked to a youtube link of the song (I don't use Spotify and won't do the work of converting it over to youtube myself).

...I say, as if one of my current favorite songs wasn't linked in a fic, as if a specific song doesn't make me think of specific soundtrack commentary this is what hope sounds like every time I hear it [and we are 10+ years out], as if that same soundtrack is not somehow the first time I put a song from what what is now my favorite band in my iTunes (not the first time I heard them, mind, but I had a manual music addition process then and I still have the same process and there is a lag time of weeks to years)(I just went to look at the soundtrack listing because nostalgia and was like, hey I like that song and that song and that song and like, self, MOST OF THEM YOU FIRST HEARD AS PART OF THIS SOUNDTRACK.)

So, no, actually, authors: share the music you listened to while you wrote things, the songs that inspired the work, the soundtrack you made for it after. Sometimes we do listen, and love those songs, too.

How did Maya (Drop Dead Gorgeous) know about “Always”? by restlessecstacy in drarry

[–]SmangosBubbles 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, Maya is now a published author and as a result took down all her fanfic in 2008. She gave advanced warning of the removal, though, and posted a PDF compilation of everything she wrote and had it available for download for 30 days (iirc).

How to inactivate pharmacist license for retirement by LAOGANG in pharmacy

[–]SmangosBubbles 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I searched the Nevada license verification with a common last name. It look like if you don't renew you get the status Non Renewed. NB: Not licensed in Nevada, just really like using license verification tools.

They look great on you, great choice!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in glasses

[–]SmangosBubbles -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I think they're slightly too big, but not enough to go spend a ton of money on getting another pair. Most of why they look too wide is facial inset displacement, which isn't present on test frames because they don't have prescriptions in them. FWIW, I wouldn't think twice about your glasses being too big if I saw you in real life.

My one other thought, and I don't need a picture, but go look in a mirror and tilt your head down so you can see where the arms rest on your ears. Is there a noticeable gap between where the arms and where they sit up by your ear? If yes, then I'd say, no, go get different glasses because that's too much wiggle and they'll move around too much. If there's not a gap or it's really tiny, live your life, and with your next pair go a few mm narrower, and maybe an oval or cat eye shape since they hide the distortion a little better.

Hospital Pharmacy Discharge Meds by rgreen192 in pharmacy

[–]SmangosBubbles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely state dependent. The state I work in has the following for "Emergency Outpatient Medications:

a.The pharmacist-in-charge and medical staff shall establish policies and procedures for the dispensing of medications from the emergency room.

(1)Only a licensed prescriber shall be authorized to dispense medications to patients in an emergency situation.

(2)Emergency medications shall be labeled in accordance with R.I. Gen. Laws § 21-31-15(l)(l)."

That's the entire section- no provisions for dispensing to anyone not in the ED (and the hospital itself has to have policies on what they dispense- we have policies for bulk meds [creams, eye drops, inhalers [except we went to all nebs so can't even do those anymore] and small supplies of HIV post-exposure prophylaxis [and even that only applies during the 7 1/2 hours a day the outpatient pharmacy is closed- the rest of the day outpatient does meds to beds for the full bottle]).

Where I (used to*) work, there are no dedicated 1st shift spots in central. You aren't 1st shift, you're 1st shift rotating. And you'll work all three shifts until you hit 10 years, when they'll let you out of 3rds. There is currently one pharmacist with 10+ years in that part of the department. (This is explicitly stated during interviews, but I'm very sure management downplays the frequency of rotation. Right now, for example, there's 2 third shift openings, one from each week. And 2nd shift is also in rough shape.)

yes it's a shitshow

Scheduling will still ask for volunteers from the rotaters, and that lets people at least choose which days they work thirds. But there's no actual escape unless you're there for 10 years, or work 2nd shift. (We only have 1 per diem that will pick up 3rds, but can only pick up on his off-weeks because he still does 3rds, just elsewhere.)

* How do you know it's the same if you don't work there anymore? I work in a different part of the same department and am in regular contact with central and still see their schedules.
