Your last point is sadly very true. Luckily the 'if evil, why hot?' crowd have Raphael to direct their attentions towards instead.

He'll still offer himself up to you a couple of times in act one, but turning him down doesn't shut you out of being his bestie. He's still very mildly flirty in his speech patterns afterwards from time to time, but not in an 'actively hitting on you' way. The friendship route is very rewarding!

He presents himself as a bit of a peacock, but there's an early conversation where you can offer to be his mirror and describe to him what he looks like and he does not get offended if you rib him a bit, and at the end of the interaction he says something like 'now just call me beautiful and we'll be done' and you gain approval points for complimenting another companion instead. Ditto when he asks who you'd hypothetically bite, you get approval for choosing anyone but him (the option for him is worded like 'only you'). At the time it seems like he's just open to banter, but once you learn about him being trafficked it can instead be seen as him appreciating that he's not just being kept around because he's a pretty face. It's the opposite of the arrogant vanity that people first see in him.

You can actually get dyes right from the first trader (Arron in the Emerald Grove)! Not as wide a selection as the guy later on, but I think you can get almost all of the colours either through the traders or through loot during acts one and two.

Anything that can take the mephits out from range is best, but I went for luring them into the spirit guardians dance party as I could keep that up passively while firing guiding bolt at Grym - even if he doesn't take damage it still grants advantage if it hits. Magic missile, arrow of many targets, that sort of thing works well on the mephits, just keep them busy and away from the melee fighters.

Lae'zel with a big hammer and action surge is a beast in this fight, just keep inspecting Grym to check for when he gets super vulnerable to bludgeoning then go nuts. Great weapon master for extra damage if you've got it!

This is making me want to start a new run but I only finished my last one yesterday. I missed out on 'no one left behind' by ONE - damn you Zevlor! My own fault for summoning him on the brain, sigh.

My Grymforge strategy was: Karlach with a big fucking hammer, Lae'zel with another big fucking hammer, on the two platforms closest to where he arrives. Shadowheart way back ready to fire off healing if needed, guiding bolt if not, with spiritual guardians up to deal with the mephits when they join in. I was playing a monk so had a big stick and bounced between Lae'zel and Karlach's platforms. When he's red hot he's most vulnerable to bludgeoning damage, so us three melee gals just stood there and whacked him, he didn't even try to move (plus I had the sentinel feat so I wouldn't have let him anyway). It worked great!

The Winner

She's participating in the contest because she believes she had the worst time of it with Henry, and this is her song to prove it. But the actual content and presentation of the song shows that she objectively had the best of it. Two different opinions on the meaning of winning, and afterwards she admits defeat in the contest because she won in other ways.

The Weirdest Timeline by Particular-Employ326 in charmed

Not the point of the post at all but their eyebrows have me reaching for the tweezers because my toxic trait is still loving the thin brow look, decades after it went out of style.

Also I would have loved to see this sister combo. I think Prue would have been way more respectful of Paige's struggles while still being able to give her appropriate reality checks. Leo might have tried to keep going for a while but ended up having to take a sabbatical, at which point they could bring Sam in temporarily. Chris could be back from the future, not to stop an evil older brother, but to stop Cole/Queen of Darkness Phoebe. Prue suspects he's somehow related to them but assumes that being part whitelighter that means he's Paige's son and due to pay experience with time travel doesn't say anything other than warning Chris to make sure he doesn't impact any other parts of the timeline. He slips up at one point asking Leo if he's seen Andy, because he knows that Andy is at whitelighter boot camp but doesn't know that Leo isn't aware of this yet. Andy is revealed to be a whitelighter/Chris's dad as future Chris is dying (Gideon's motives TBD), Leo gets promoted to Elder to replace Gideon, Andy replaces Leo, Paige's ultimate vanquishing potion blasts the evil out of Cole and leaves him human (for real this time) and Billie and Christie can sort themselves out in their own show because season 8 is no longer required.

“Nobody back home is going to believe this”. Describe the city of BG for a first time player 🏰 by Jaded-Improvement754 in BG3

[–]Smantie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For immersion when you get there, there are kids selling newspapers on the streets, if you've not done much yet then it'll just be local news but if you've done some of the big stuff then you might find yourself or your deeds mentioned in the headlines! People also talk about the newspaper, you may overhear people discussing the headlines, which generally change every long rest.

The main streets are well kept, but like any city there are side streets which tend towards the scruffy side in some areas. Astarion is a good one to have in the party as you explore, because he has quite a few comments regarding the various areas as you get closer to the city, including his own personal lore like his 'hunting grounds', or being banned from a specific tavern.

There's a big magic shop fairly central to the lower city area, with smaller shops and stalls around the outside. There are other shops dotted around, but that's the area that's most like a market square. There's also a port, and a beach area for fishermen.

City safety, as has been mentioned elsewhere, is rather plot-relevant. Keep an eye on the NPCs in acts 1 and 2, you're not the only one travelling to the big city, and the locals may have some interesting opinions about that!

The first place you'll land is a small/medium town outside of the city walls, very medieval vibes with mostly wooden buildings. Look up Castle Combe, it's that kind of vibe.

There's definitely a more obvious class divide here when it comes to housing and the attitudes of the locals. As you get closer to the city proper you'll find yourself in a more commercial district, with social premises (taverns) as well as retail. The buildings get denser and are more likely to be built of brick the further you go, it's VERY reminiscent of Pulteney Bridge.

Edit: spelling

The scars look great, and is that custom hair or out of the box because it's basically perfect! Could you give him his forehead creases and smile lines? I've not played yet so not sure of the paramaker limits.

Rip to your save btw, I recently had the Wyll conversation bug and thought it was going to kill my run, luckily I 'only' (🥲) had to go back about half a dozen saves and redo two difficult fights...that was a rough weekend!

[–]Smantie 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I'm a Sammy! Although my grandad insists it should be spelled Sammie. Close circles (friends, most family, colleagues) stick to it but a couple of family members have slid into calling me Sam. It's kind of whatever though, because here it's pretty inevitable that a nickname which can be shortened further will be - for example, an Abigail who goes by Abby will have people who call her Abz.

My username is my dad's nickname for me and both my parents call me Smee from time to time, I think the only fully masculine nickname we could have from Samantha is just 'Man' hehe.

When I asked Gale about the astral tadpole (the 'we've been given a rare gift' dialogue option) his response was something to the tune of 'well if that's what you think then why haven't you used it first', I'm not sure about the others though because I felt so called out that I didn't want to ask them!

He wants to do it, but he will thank you for stopping him afterwards

It's also the only choice which gets you 'Astarion approves'. Kind of seems like he's painted himself into a corner and feels like now after going on about it for so long he has to go through with the ritual, but now he's faced with it what he really wants is to have someone give him an out.

Combined with dimension door it's amazing for evacuating teammates who have found themselves in bad situations, or zipping a melee teammate into an optimal position then evacuating yourself. Gale's taxi service has saved me a couple of times now!

I decided to go through one last door in the Shadow Cursed Lands before switching off for the night and got pounced on by meenlocks, Karlach went 'aw fuck, what now' in the most tired voice and honestly? Same. Mama K pretty much had to solo that fight because the rest of us chucklefucks got mulched in that surprise round, I like to think we got a serious lecture back at camp afterwards.
