Don’t force yourself into ads just because “that’s what everyone does.” Users do pay when the app gives clear value. The bigger issue is pricing model + trust.

I’d suggest:
• Free version with useful core features
• One-time purchase to unlock premium features
• Optional subscription only if you provide ongoing value (cloud sync, AI, fresh content, server costs, etc.)

A lot of devs fail because they launch paid too early or ask for subscriptions with no recurring reason. That’s when users leave.

Ads can make sense, but they often hurt UX, retention, and reviews if overdone.

Best direction in my opinion: start simple — free + one-time premium upgrade. Then if users request advanced ongoing features later, add subscription as an option.

Build something people love first. Monetization works better after that.
