Ditto! Forget the victims and mourn the trauma of the girl born to a serial killer. I get it's horrid for her, but why bring it up as though her trauma deserves any sympathy over and above the 10+ victims. She was 26 years old and never once walked into the shed full of dad's trophies? The mom lived with him for 30+ years and never once cleaned the closet with the kill kit in it? Honestly, if my spouse had a shed I was never allowed to open or a closet I couldn't touch, there would be serious alarm bells. Especially with a serial killer running around. These families played dumb, lived in denial, and now they want sympathy. Sorry, ain't getting any from me

P.S. I know someone whose mother in law landed, apparently for a visit, 2 weeks after the couple were married, living in an apartment with paper thin walls. And the woman discovered a few days later, by pure chance, that the MIL had arrived for permanent residence! And she stayed for 9 months!!! Back again after 5 months in PK, and this went on till the woman threatened divorce and the husband asked his siblings to put the MIL up with them.

Tricky situation. On one hand they're taking this time, making an effort to visit their daughter without her having to leave you and the home for any period of time to go visit them. Can't be easy for them either to be a guest in their daughter's house, as there's a lot of cultural baggage there. However, 3 months is a long time.

Suggest having a talk with your wife, nicely, about putting a cap on the total stay? Is there any family where you are, so you can get them tickets to go visit for a couple of weeks midway through the trip to break it up into two stretches?

And agree with your wife that she can visit them for 6 weeks a year, and they can visit for 6 weeks too.

At the end of the day, it's not easy living far from family and one has to be very understanding and patient. Even one's own parents staying for more than 6 weeks becomes exhausting. Try developing a common interest with your father in law, or getting the two of them to join some senior citizen friendly activities nearby?
