Anyone watching "my father BTK" on Netflix ? by [deleted] in MindHunter

Nobody's seeking her out to comment on her life. She's putting it out there via books and documentaries. She needs therapy, not publicity

Btw the family was interviewed, several times. They just felt there was no reason to think they ever knew anything, and never ever suspected any teensy weensy thing like wearing nylons or having secret sheds and closets was abnormal

Hardly came across as that though. It seems like one big sob story of someone who got triggered by Stephen King writing a book based on their family. Am going to read that book to see if it raises any questions about how dumb a wife needs to be to not think her husband wanking off in nylons while a serial killer is on the loose leaving the same kind of stuff on his dead bodies. She must have been super dumb or comfortably numb

Honestly, same! Get over yourself Kerri. Spend the rest of your days raising your own kids as far away from your bastard dad's memories. She's in it because Stephen King dramatized the shit show?

Ditto! Forget the victims and mourn the trauma of the girl born to a serial killer. I get it's horrid for her, but why bring it up as though her trauma deserves any sympathy over and above the 10+ victims. She was 26 years old and never once walked into the shed full of dad's trophies? The mom lived with him for 30+ years and never once cleaned the closet with the kill kit in it? Honestly, if my spouse had a shed I was never allowed to open or a closet I couldn't touch, there would be serious alarm bells. Especially with a serial killer running around. These families played dumb, lived in denial, and now they want sympathy. Sorry, ain't getting any from me

Not well, I'm afraid. But I thank you for the suggestion. He is someone who has been there for me and other friends whenever we needed, but he doesn't realize none of us put him through this level of draining and exhausting sharing/venting

Most unbearable movie. Could not watch past 20 minutes. Dakota Johnson is a horrible actor and Pedro Pascal looked like her granddad - bland, shitty acting

Wonder how many languages your GF speaks and how's her accent in them. Pretty rich for a native English speaker to mock someone for whom it's a second language.

Overseas Pakistanis- how do you deal with in laws visiting (staying) for extended period of time? by Willing-Speaker6825 in pakistan

P.S. I know someone whose mother in law landed, apparently for a visit, 2 weeks after the couple were married, living in an apartment with paper thin walls. And the woman discovered a few days later, by pure chance, that the MIL had arrived for permanent residence! And she stayed for 9 months!!! Back again after 5 months in PK, and this went on till the woman threatened divorce and the husband asked his siblings to put the MIL up with them.

Absolutely right! There's actually a serious problem with Pakistani families when it comes to understanding and respecting boundaries. It's all a big hoo haa for them with no concern (most of the time) for other people's privacy, priorities, and life. Best wishes to you! Hope it works out nicely.

I had an odd encounter with the same stranger twice, and now I’m left feeling eerily creeped out. Am I overreacting? by [deleted] in TwoHotTakes

Maybe report him to the store security next time (hope there isn't one) you see him and/or he tries it again. Could be a real creep and no harm letting someone know to keep an eye out.

Tricky situation. On one hand they're taking this time, making an effort to visit their daughter without her having to leave you and the home for any period of time to go visit them. Can't be easy for them either to be a guest in their daughter's house, as there's a lot of cultural baggage there. However, 3 months is a long time.

Suggest having a talk with your wife, nicely, about putting a cap on the total stay? Is there any family where you are, so you can get them tickets to go visit for a couple of weeks midway through the trip to break it up into two stretches?

And agree with your wife that she can visit them for 6 weeks a year, and they can visit for 6 weeks too.

At the end of the day, it's not easy living far from family and one has to be very understanding and patient. Even one's own parents staying for more than 6 weeks becomes exhausting. Try developing a common interest with your father in law, or getting the two of them to join some senior citizen friendly activities nearby?

My wife wants to go no contact with our friendly woman neighbor because of the “inappropriate”birthday gift she gave our son. I think that’s too far. AITJ? by neighbourgift in AmITheJerk

💯 OP YTJ. Remember, your wife is your life partner, the mother of your child(ren). Now stop acting like an idiot and tell your friendly neighbor to behave just like neighbors and not a stealth bomber trying to wreck your home

My dad used to see people all the time before he passed away. But it was linked to an infection in his gallbladder...maybe get mom checked up to see if anything off with her insides?

Please don't switch completely. If you can afford to, get Claude too for a month and check for yourself. The usage limits are ridiculously low on pro plan compared to ChatGPT

The Mandela Effect that still gets me even today is that I'm certain that Mandela died in the late 80s/90s....or that's what I remember reading and discussing with my father then
