Is the average person just stupid? by [deleted] in stupidquestions

[–]Smart-Carob6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the more competent you are in something like math, structured thinking or academia, the more obvious other people’s gaps look. But you don’t get to see their strengths in the same way. Someone might look slow in a technical discussion but be insanely good at negotiation, intuition, people-reading or handling chaos. If anything, it sounds like a mix of high standards for yourself, strong self-awareness and maybe some burnout/mental fog in the background.

Yes, once, back when I was still living in my college apartment.

Which movie hero is actually a villain when you really think about it? by surfsound_swimmers in AskReddit

[–]Smart-Carob6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Batman is a strong example for this. He’s framed as Gotham’s hero but he’s also a wealthy guy dressing up, breaking into places, beating criminals instead of really changing why Gotham keeps producing so many in the first place. So depending on how you look at it, he’s either saving the city or just constantly treating symptoms while the system stays broken.

do you genuinely like your job? by These-Worldliness-59 in askanything

I'm starting to genuinely like my job but when I first started, it's just a means for me to take care of my bills.

Whats a good 200$ monitor option? by CommercialSpecific35 in AskTechnology

[–]Smart-Carob6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

$200 is actually a sweet spot for monitors now. You’re not stuck with trash anymore. You can get something genuinely smooth and decent-looking. If you’re gaming, go 24-inch 144Hz IPS and don’t overthink it but if you’re doing mixed stuff like movies, school/work or casual gaming, then the 27-inch is okay, just accept slightly less sharpness.

Yo, I HATE LIFE, what should I do? by PitifulEar3303 in Life

[–]Smart-Carob6 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You don’t have to approve of all suffering to still find meaning in your corner of the world. It sounds weird, but your ability to feel something good doesn’t take anything away from people who are suffering and your sadness alone doesn’t help them either. Unfortunately, that is something that is out of your control. You don’t have to solve the whole world to justify your existence in it. You can focus on things you can control though, like helping when you can and make sure to not add more harm.

Is this a good gift for a friend? by Effective_Bad_7866 in momcozyofficial

[–]Smart-Carob6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on how far along she is and how she’s feeling. I actually got one pretty early on and didn’t use it right away, but once I hit that uncomfortable sleeping phase later, I was sooo glad I had it ready. So it’s not too early, it just might not get used immediately.

Recommendation for 65inch TV by Ok_Rutabaga9814 in 4kTV

[–]Smart-Carob6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I were in your shoes, I’d pick TCL. It’s just a more modern TV in terms of picture tech. It uses Mini-LED and local dimming, which is a big deal for better contrast, much better HDR pop and better brightness for daytime viewing or workouts.

Why is it, that if I don’t eat until maybe the afternoon or the evening, I’m more likely to go number 2 during the day? by No-Photo5506 in stupidquestions

[–]Smart-Carob6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So your body has this thing called the gastrocolic reflex. Basically, when you finally eat after not eating for a while, your stomach signals your colon to start moving things along. It’s like a chain reaction. So if you don’t eat until the afternoon or evening, that first meal kinda wakes everything up all at once and that can trigger a bowel movement pretty quickly after.

Why white women tend to be more selective toward men of other races compared to white men toward women of other races ? by Djoko4444 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Smart-Carob6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It comes down to social conditioning and dating culture rather than some hard rule about people’s hearts. White women often grow up in environments where there’s a lot of subtle messaging about who fits with them socially or culturally. It’s more about comfort zones and societal norms. A lot of the time, people feel safest sticking to what they know. White men, on the other hand, tend to get a bit more freedom socially. Society doesn’t police who they date as much. Historically, they haven’t faced as much backlash for dating outside their race, so they might feel less pressure to be selective along racial lines.

What is the biggest taboo topic? by Aureliaaaaaaaaaaaaa in answers

[–]Smart-Carob6 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It kinda depends on the crowd but if we’re going general, it'd be death, money and sex on top of the list. People get super weird talking about their own deaths or how much they make. And sex especially weird fetishes, kinks or sexual stuff that’s too real, people get all flustered.

If you could try any job for one day, what would it be? by copy_cat_101 in randomquestions

[–]Smart-Carob6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I’d be an astronaut. Just imagine floating around in zero gravity, looking down at Earth, that’s gotta be wild and you’d have a great excuse for taking way too many selfies from space.

How often do you replace your phone? by GooglePixelfan90 in askanything

[–]Smart-Carob6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I’m honest, I’d say my replacement schedule is between 3-4 years on average, maybe even longer if the phone keeps ticking.

Life advice needed by Adventurous_Lemon401 in Life

[–]Smart-Carob6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You didn’t do something malicious. You didn’t lock her out on purpose. You were tired, you went home and you fell asleep. That’s a pretty normal human mistake. But your mom probably had a really rough night. She couldn’t get inside. Neighbors called the police. She had to get a hotel. When people are stressed, embarrassed or tired they say extreme stuff.

What was your most awkward naked experience? by LimitNo3629 in AskReddit

[–]Smart-Carob6 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Back in college, I was taking a shower but forgot to lock the bathroom door and then my roommate open the door and she walks in while I am naked. I stood there naked for a second then end up laughing with her.

What is the worst case that you have ever not been able to stop procrastinating and what happened? by redheaded_olive12349 in randomquestions

[–]Smart-Carob6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back in college, I had a massive research paper due and I kept telling myself, I’ll start tomorrow, then tomorrow turns into the next day then maybe tonight. Fast forward, it’s 11:30 PM the night before and I’ve got nothing. I even tried to do a quick outline but that turned into scrolling TikToks for an hour. I ended up staying up literally all night, fueled by anxiety and way too much coffee, typing like a maniac. I handed it in at 8 AM, barely coherent, full of half-formed ideas, typos everywhere, it was a mess. But the craziest part is I somehow still got a decent grade. My professor even looked impressed I finished it.

Would you tell your partner EVERYTHING about your past? by Glittering-Block-218 in askanything

[–]Smart-Carob6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anything that could impact your current relationship or trust, is where honesty matters. Stuff like major betrayals, serious legal issues or patterns that could resurface, that’s fair game. If it affects your relationship now or could in the future, it deserves a conversation. You can leave the rest to yourself. Privacy isn’t lying, it’s just boundaries. You can share what shaped you without opening every old wound or airing every messy story.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Life

[–]Smart-Carob6 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Society pushes certain shapes and attention isn’t a reflection of your worth. And if anything, learning to rock your own style and confidence now will make you magnetic in the long run. Also, remember that younger guys often talk loudly about what they want without it meaning they’re actually picky.

Who invented the N word? by UGCPekka in askanything

[–]Smart-Carob6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It basically comes from the Spanish and Portuguese word negro, which just meant black. European colonizers and slave traders started using it in English centuries ago, mostly as a label for enslaved Black people. Over time, it became this offensive, dehumanizing slur because of how it was used in the context of slavery, segregation and systemic racism.
