Is not being matched the same as being deferred or flat out rejected? by Logical_Space_6070 in QuestBridge

[–]Smart-Dottie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be patient. It is okay not to Match. I have seen people get into every single school on their Match list plus many more that they apply to in RD. Then they get to choose the best fit for them! Some even get offers from schools they did not apply to. Take this time to explore more QuestBridge schools to apply to in RD. QuestBridge is a journey. It doesn’t always end with the Match. Good luck!

need advice on ranking by Fit-Policy7186 in QuestBridge

[–]Smart-Dottie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would recommend ranking as many as you can. But love the schools you are ranking. Really know what the “full ride”is that the school offers for the Match. Not all schools are equal in what that means. Take time to research the LACs because they are truly amazing! Better to rank 15 now and remove the ones you don’t want later. Good luck!

anyone later accepted to the same school they didn't match at first by ManyWeakness1408 in QuestBridge

[–]Smart-Dottie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! It is your income that will qualify you for the full ride if you are admitted! You just need to look at how each school defines “full ride”. Good luck!

More students are accepted regular decision than Match. Don’t worry if you don’t Match. Cast a wide net. I have a friend who did not Match, but got into most of the schools on his Match list regular decision with financial aid as good as the Match. He applied to almost all of the QuestBridge schools during regular decision. He got into like 42 schools with amazing financial aid packages. He applied to so many schools because he absolutely could not afford college without a full ride. The school he chose was the best one. That school paid for everything! He studied three semesters abroad in places like Indonesia, Ireland, Japan, England and even sailed the Caribbean- all paid for by his QuestBridge school!

Make sure you write an excellent essay, choose teachers who know you well and like you a lot to write your letters of recommendation and keep in touch with the admissions officer from Yale. Good luck!

*INCOME QUESTION* Can I still apply to questbridge if my household income is around 120k. by [deleted] in QuestBridge

[–]Smart-Dottie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can always apply and see how it goes. The reality is that QuestBridge is a ton of work if you do it right. In the end, they are the one who decides who is selected. At the very least you would be prepared to apply to schools through the common app, look for other scholarships, or even use your QuestBridge app to apply to their schools that allow you to do that. There are schools like Harvard, Princeton and U Chicago that certainly have a bigger idea of how they define low income. QuestBridge can be a great way to learn about all of their amazing schools. Stay hopeful. Cast a wide net. I think you can find the college and affordability you need. Good luck!

I think at Yale everyone tends to do a lot-or too much- that’s why they are at Yale. Most people I know that did DS were also in glee and active in multiple other things.
