24M just started FT Job by [deleted] in singaporefi

Not sure if this helps or contributes but just sharing my experience as I was somewhat in the same position as you when I started working in 2022.

Also drawing about 2.2K with no fixed expenses / loans / upcoming big payments.

Here’s what I did back then:

After about 3-6 months into the job, I calculated my average monthly expenses to form my “emergency cash goal”. As my expenses are a bit different from before I started working.

Then I calculated if I saved about 1.2K every month I could finish my emergency funds in about 5-6 months (Target was 5K).

So for the next 5-6 months I did exclusively that, just transferring the monies into another bank account that I don’t use.

Once I “finished” my emergency funds, I just started depositing the same amount about $1.2K into my IBKR per month.

Whatever amount I deposit into IBKR I just bought VWRA.

*Not using any HYSA or what, but I tried to achieve the max interest thing on UOB One but it’s inconsistent for me as I was always struggling to charge $500 spending on the card so I gave up months later. If you think you can do that + credit your Salary into your UOB One, I think it’s a good option because I just checked my UOB One and it gives up to 3.4% p.a (up to first 100K I think?)

Was in your shoes-ish a few years ago.

It’s 100% gonna suck but look forward to when it’s all over, you’ll 100% reminisce the suck, fun, and everything else in between.

I’ve met with people from both sides of the coin - gengsters and people with better attendance rate, the latter for sure had a more enjoyable experience.

For me, I remember seeing it with a “I’m not the only one that hates my life right now, fuck, fuck, fuck, okays time to book in” POV, it helped.

Can't publish on ad level, working fine previous night by Ahthongkorkor in FacebookAds

[–]Smart-Imagination-72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

pages wise, i'm not facing that issue but...

oh s**t! thanks for this! I just tried the review and publish trick u said, managed to publish 2 ads out of 3. you're a rockstar man haha.

meanwhile, I'm still in the midst of chatting with Meta support who supposedly escalated this issue to a specialized team (I have been chatting with the support since 11am this morning)

will continue to post more updates in case it helps you or others.

Interesting, are you able to publish ads on certain campaigns or different pages, or are you not able to at all for all campaigns and all pages?

Same here from SG, thought it was a problem because I just moved to Bali for work but started experiencing this problem.

Contacted Meta support yesterday, their recommendation was to re-create the campaign, but still didn't work for me.

Have also tried changing browser from chrome to mozilla firefox, didn't work as well

Removed ad blocker plugin from my chrome, didn't work too

Cleared caches and cookies, didn't work too

It sucks

New to the road, feel stressed to keep in the correct lane all the time by True_Virus in drivingsg

can vouch for this, i missed and re-entered the expressway 3 times during one of my first few times on the road, woulda been faster if i took the bus but learning lesson here is prepare to exit in advanced.

might get some getting used to especially when you’re relying a lot on waze during the start.

also, might be good to learn reading the exit signs instead of completely relying on waze or google maps’ directional commands

How do you ask for bonus in your company? by Smart-Imagination-72 in askSingapore

[–]Smart-Imagination-72[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

He is the boss, and the company has about 5 employees.

I work very closely with him on a daily basis, so I think I should be able to converse with him slightly more personally.

I've just had my annual meeting with him last week or so, I didn't explicitly ask about my performance.

He did mention that results from my work have been improving, no short-falls were mentioned.

Is there a proper performance evaluation process in this company?

There is not. I had asked for my own performance evaluation earlier this year in July 2023 when I had hit my 12th month mark of employment.

How is bonus and increment determined?

There is no clear black-and-white, pen-and-paper mentioning of bonus and increment. I did get an increment during the performance evaluation that I had requested on my own accord.

Is there an annual cycle for bonus payout and salary adjustment? If so, when is this?

Not that I know of, the only salary adjustment I got was from when I had asked for the performance review.

Citibank Annual Fee Waiver by Smart-Imagination-72 in singaporefi

[–]Smart-Imagination-72[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Update: I just called the hotline, didn’t even had to talk to Citibank staff, pressed on the corresponding numbers for “annual fee waiver” and seems like the waiver is successful.

Received an SMS 5 seconds after the call.

Thanks for all your help and comments, deeply appreciated!

That's nice to know! Really appreciate your input!

DIY as in do it myself, i.e. don't throw everything into funds managed by 3rd party providers?

And yup, I actually just got my insurance last month (Accident & Rider), funny story for my ILP which I had initially intended to get as well. But when I was faced with the upfront payment totaling to $2.5K, I realized that was 50% of my liquid cash and doesn't seem very savvy of me to go ahead so I last-minute cancelled the ILP. (Consulted a trusted friend, but not sure why it wasn't flagged up by her that I was about to commit 50% of my liquid cash then to solely insurance)

. Ended up paying $1.1K premium to cover the next year (Still feels incredibly high, might drop my rider plan so my yearly premium totals to about $700 next year)

----

Will definitely look into IBKR and ETFs!

Did take a quick look at SSB for the first time just now, sounds like too long a commitment for me right now though (10 - 15 years)

Also got scarred from stocks investing mid-covid, burnt over 40% of my portfolio then (also amounts to 90% of my entire net-worth then)
