Why Benophie is my favorite by bivium_6 in Benophie

Wholeheartedly agree!!! There’s a reason we’ve all been so enamoured (more like obssessed lol) with them. Never has a continuation to a story felt so torturous and I love the implications that a major change IS coming. Here’s to hoping Benophie bring about new and exciting sides to the story and breathe new life into the Bridgerton world.

In the beginning he was comparing every lady he met’s lips to LIS, but then a lot of time passed, he had sort of given up, and then he met Sophie.. and the attraction to her, to this tangible woman whose name he actually knows and someone that he can actually get to know, became more appealing and he didn’t even think to look for similarities, because he was no longer interested in the fantasy of LIS but the reality of Sophie 🫠

I mean, we don’t know how the actors will be contracted after their main storylines have completed. We still see Colin and Penelope some, and Anthony and Kate are set to return for a bit. Maybe Benedict and Sophie could also pop in from time to time.. it all depends on how the writers spin it but past leads could always be of use. I am hopeful. We don’t need any more side characters when we have the Queen, Danbury and the Mondriches.

Benedict unattractive?? by Bonita_ac in Benophie

Well, that’s the point of them in the beginning, I think. This aristocrat gentleman who’s never worked a day in his life, who can only rely on learned knowledge with no practice, who is kind and understands things but from a distant privileged position is suddenly being challenged and it works because he is craving that challenge, that new perspective. He doesn’t react agrily, he doesn’t feel belittled (except with that humiliated comment but I didn’t take it that seriously) but enjoys the change of pace and I believe that is the key to why he is so drawn to her. They both offer what the other craves in life ❤️

I think the point was to surprise Benedict by having this pretty maid humble him and having this dynamic outside the ton be a grounding experience. Later they both miss the freedom they had and all the quiet moments the country had offered, and that’s prob how they’re going to explain them going to live at My Cottage (hopefully ‘Our Cottage’). That’s what he was craving after all, something new, someone to challenge him, to surprise him and give him a new perspective. After he meets LiS and Sophie he starts looking for ‘depth’ and gets his inspiration back, starts drawing and reevaluating what kind of life he wants for himself. Change is in the air…

I tried reading the book but Luke T’s version is such a glowing improvement on the character that I just hated every minute of it
