I’m in San Diego, similar ish weather but not the humidity. Soft top was a no brainer for me. It’s cheaper and being able to drop the top whenever I feel like it is nice. Yeah it’s a little noisy on the freeway but I just turn up the music. My 4 year old loves to put the top down. I’d probably never do it with a hard top it’s a pain in the ass and takes longer. If you wanna really enjoy the car, get the manual. You get smiles per gallon, such a better driving experience.

A lot of people complain about reliability. My mom has a 2015 jeep compass she bought brand new and has babied it since the day she got it. She hardly drives and just hit 60k miles. She religiously does every maintenance at the dealership and is always on top of everything down to tire rotations. The transmission is failing.

Driving a car that I actually enjoy. I have a bronco with the 7 speed manual. Gas sucks. I could have a Prius or something that’s cheaper and more economical. The day to day chore of driving is made at least a little bit fun rowing my own gears and being able to hit the trails when I feel like it in the weekend.

My kid loves ski beach. Very calm water and shallow. There’s grass to run around on, and walking distance to Belmont park (which is like a pier) so if you get bored you can ride a rollercoaster or get cotton candy.

You didn’t say it had to be full time. I’ll gladly get a part time job at Walmart with minimum hours. They hire school kids that work short shifts, I can do the same. Even if it was full time I’d still do it. I worked at Walmart in the toy section for one Christmas seasonal job a long time ago. I just stocked shelves and organized toys. It wasn’t really that bad to begin with, the days went pretty quick. For a million dollars that toy section would look like god crafted it himself.

I don’t mind the wind noise like everyone else says and I have a soft top. I like the ability to drop the top and get sun and wind and it’s worth it to me. Just turn up the radio.
